Craft brewery featuring a tasting room, gifts, self-guided tours & reservation-only hard hat tours.

This is one of the best breweries we have ever visited. The buildings are so beautiful with the Swiss theme. The outside tasting area is so relaxing, & beautiful! You good stay there all day and enjoy the great tasting beer while relaxing & enjoying nature. Clean & beautiful. Looking forward when they can be fully open on the weekends for more people to enjoy. The gift shop has something for everyone. Love the home of the Spotted cow! Thank you to all the staff who make it a great place to visit.

For years I have been giving people money if the get to visit here. Well now it's my turn! I loved it here! The self tour was fun as it allowed us to see everything at our own pace. The tap room and beer room were fun too! So many great flavors and old standards. I will always be a supporter of New Glarus Brewing.

Marc Gregory — Google review

Had a day off so I went to the New Glarus Brewing Company, I wanted to come here before I left Wisconsin, really kool place. Unfortunately I didn’t get a chance to take the tour but I bought some really nice souvenirs to take back with me, which I thought were reasonably priced, also taking a case of spotted cow back with me. 👍🏽

Dagoberto J Rodriguez — Google review

One of my favorite breweries of all time. I’ve been drinking their beer for 2 decades. We finally made a trip to visit the brewery and were not disappointed. The tour and tastings were great. I wish I could have bought more souvenirs to bring home. We had a great visit and will come back any time we return to the area.

Lane Milde — Google review

It's one of my favorite breweries ever. Have been here twice in my life, and both have been the capstone of amazing road trips to get here. The tour is fun, people are friendly, and the beer is downright amazing. Amazing enough, I accidently told my coworkers where I was going, and well, the cases ordered almost didn't fit in the car.

Jakob Barker — Google review

So glad we FINALLY made it down to New Glarus to see the brewery and have some fresh and tasty brews! So cool to be able to walk the grounds at our own pace. We did not do the guided tour but I'm sure it would be amazing! Had some snow falling when we were there which made for awesome pictures of the exterior of the building as well! Highly highly recommend! Note: brewery only open during the weekday

Anthony Harrington — Google review

Been wanting to come here for a long time. Bulk ordering area is nice. Self guided tour is cool. All the cool places to walk and sit is awesome. The beer serving area could be better… I’m sure they were transitioning to another area. Love it. Excited to mule 3 cases of spotted cow home to Texas!

Jonathan Oetken — Google review

Took the self guided tour of complete processing amazing set up very clean and well planned set up. staff quite courteous.Bear testing is very exciting though changeable one must go for tasting. we spend about 2 hours enjoying everything.

Sunil Thaker — Google review

Enjoyed the self guided tour and the beer tasting. As a hard core fan of spotted cow beer, this was an informative tour that was on our list for the last 3years.Tours allow you to see the brewing process, fermentation tanks, bottling, labeling and packaging.Self guided tours are offered on weekdays up until 5pm. Hard hat tours are limited to Friday for a max of 20people.The beer depot offers all their beer ranges to take home.

Pruthvi Ks — Google review

Old-world charm .... good place to tour to see how beer is produced. On weekends, the alphorns play.Beer tasting & buying along with a gift shop & small museum about the history of beer. It was a very nice experience... like being in Europe!

Mary Soddy — Google review

New Glarus Brewing Company offers amazing beers of highest quality and taste. Spotted Cow is the flagship beer, and probably the best beer available. The hard hat tour is pretty amazing, for the pride and passion that goes into every bottle, keg, and can is inspiring.

Clinton Stumpf — Google review

Fun brewery to tour and a great gift shop. Unfortunately they are currently not open on the weekends. The beer garden is really nice. You have to buy tickets for beers. They have some common stuff on tap but also some you don't see often. With your first beer you get a souvenir glass and a drink token for one of the fun local bars so if you plan on stopping in town it's a great deal.

M D — Google review

Amazing Brewery, with an Amazing story!Gorgeous property, with a great experience!Self guided tour was really great with plenty of information to make it a great experience. There’s a video about the entire history of the brewery, the family, and how “Spotted Cow” came to be. ADA accessible. Plenty of restrooms so you can take your time and be casual on your time here. There’s a sampling area, where you can buy a 3 drink sampler, or your favorite pint. You get to keep your glass, and a free drink token to enjoy a beer at participating locations. Gift shop with a great selection of local items, including Bobs B*tchin BBQ sauce! Absolutely love this brewery!!

Daily Driver — Google review

The brewery is great with a great story along with it. They let you walk around in a self-guided tour, and the grounds are great too! It's a cool town, too... check out downtown New Glarus, they call it 'little Switzerland'

David Renard — Google review

This is a quaint brewery to tour. It looks like a German village. The success story of the owners is wonderful. We were not able to get tickets for the hard hat tour since they were sold out. We enjoyed the self guided tour and a sample

Adele — Google review

Really like the grounds, location and the tour and take home beers. Tasting room could be improved. Just 3 standing tables. Add some seating and tables to make it more welcoming.

Baumgartner's Cheese Store & Tavern is a historic establishment that has been serving customers since 1931. It offers a delightful combination of a cheese and specialty food shop along with a charming tavern where visitors can enjoy local beers and pub-style meals. The cozy interior features wooden booths, while the outdoor patio provides an ideal setting for enjoying cold beer during the summer months. The tavern is renowned for its wide selection of gourmet cheeses, which are featured in their popular rye bread sandwiches.

Stopped in to try their new menu item of burgers which we've heard so many positive things about. Delicious! Hand formed patties, served with Mrs Mike's potato chips, and several selections of what I call uniquely named beers to go with your meal! Definitely a win! Great service as always!

DeB Marshall — Google review

A portal back to 1940 depression era Midwest. Similar to the "No Fuss" sandwiches that your grandma would be serving up any weekday lunch. Scratches an itch that I didn't know I had. If you are anywhere in the area, make a point to stop.

Rachel Gall — Google review

Nice and cozy tavern known for their wide selection of cheese. The place is known for rye bread sandwiches pack with gourmet cheese and deli of choice. Which pair perfectly with their award winning chilies! Also don’t miss out on the mustard honey that they have in a squeeze bottle on the table, a true game changer! The atmosphere indoors interior is cozy with wooden booths, while the outdoor patio is perfect for cold beer in the summer.Additionally you can also just walk up to the counter and buy the locally made cheeses as well. The staff was super friendly when I asked her to cut the limburger log, rewrap them and pack it separately for me!

Love this place. Cool atmosphere, Great service. Good food at very reasonable prices. Get your taste of Wisconsin here. Newer additions here include more beers on tap and a grill for more hot sandwich choices. Chili is darn good.

Chris Campbell — Google review

Baumgartner's Cheese Store & Tavern is Wisconsin’s oldest cheese store, opened in 1931. They serve excellent food and have a great selection of beers, including locally brewed. They claim to have the best cheese sandwiches in the world. I can’t vouch for that but the pastrami sandwich was top notch! The staff was great, very knowledgeable about the beer and food especially the various cheeses and pairings.

Adam C. — Google review

Wow!! Go out of your way to get here. Great atmosphere, unbelievable food, and great scenery Nd history. This palce has German written all over it. The pastrami sandwich was to die for and be careful with the horseradish mustard! It'll getcha! I bought two jars

D Wade — Google review

What a quaint place on the town square. The Gouda soup with rye croutons was fabulous. Never having eatemlimburgwr cheese, I tried the limburger burger and was not disappointed. Will definitely go ago.

Janice Roush — Google review

Glad you are back open! The tomato basil bisque soup was amazing and of course the original Baumies Style sandwich of: Braunschweiger/Brick cheese/raw onion and that amazing mustard, on soft dark rye bread. Yum!!!! Great service as well!

Kristine Nelson — Google review

Best burger I've had in a long time! The people are very friendly! We will definitely be going back.

Fantastic and memorable place to have a meal. Everything about this place is awesome. Burgers were amazing and curry chicken sandwich the same. Great staff, food, beer and Landjaegers!

Matt Z3 — Google review

Loved this place. Excellent cheese sandwiches. Very reasonable priced. Feels like you are stepping back in time

Robert Umans — Google review

I had this saved on my bucket list to try because the Limburger sandwich, I want sure if I ever would make it until I traveled for work and realized I was only 2 hours away. I had to go, I did and it was fantastic! I was early in the day so way before the lunch rush but that sandwich was something I wish we had in North Carolina! I will for sure be back when I’m in the area or even driving distance. Next time I will try some other things.

An amazing cheese experience ..Visiting from Texas! We know Wisconsin has legendary cheese and was on a mission to find some .. we found it in Baumgartner'sA friend recommended this place and we were not disappointed. The service was good but the food was great.I can't say enough about our food .. good cheese is so satisfying. It was a cold day in January 2023 we had the tomatoes basil bisque warm thick and tasty. Tuna melt topped with slice of tomatoes and cheddar, pastrami and Swiss on rye served with extra cheese and a pickle 😋Its an awesome atmosphere serving awesome food . We highly recommend 👌

Genie — Google review

Fun little spot for a quick bite or a drink with friends. The Reuben is great! Really nice service and friendly staff. Wisconsin's oldest cheese store with a lot to look at in a cool atmosphere.

Tracy Graham — Google review

A kitschy Wisconsin institution! Truthfully this is a glorified bar but it’s certainly a unique institution. The beer selection is good, featuring about 20 rotating taps, featuring Wisconsin breweries. They also had a decent selection of non-alcoholic beers (although that may have been supplemented for dry January). The menu is simple, featuring “room-temperature sandwiches” (their words!) with Wisconsin cheeses and meats. They also have several daily soups. The real selling-point is the ambiance. The walls are covered in interesting artwork, the chairs are handmade and the environment is cozy. If you want a great Wisconsin experience, this is a top destination and won’t disappoint!

Excellent food and service. Ample street parking on the square. Very good selection of cheeses for sale.

Sights & Landmarks

20 acres of landscaped paths & gardens, with tours of English-, Japanese- & French-themed areas.

This is a true gem to visit. Only an hour out of Milwaukee and *so* worth the drive. An immersion into nature and a contemplative haven. Beautifully designed and meticulously maintained garden vignettes, meandering paths, ponds, bridges, waterfalls and plenty of seating along the way—thanks to colorful Adirondack chairs thoughtfully place at the waters edge and benches throughout the gardens inscribed with inspirational quotes. I am looking forward to going back. Soon.

Maureen Dahl — Google review

We love Rotary Garden! We love going there in warm weather but the best thing to see is the light display!! Every year they add more lights; they’re over one million lights! It can get really busy for the lights on weekends, especially when it gets closer to Christmas. We like to go early in December, right when they open at 4:30. We hang out near the entrance until it gets darker and then we enjoy the lights! They don’t allow anyone in the building right now because of covid, and there aren’t any tickets available for purchase on site. There are port-a-potties at the entrance and halfway through the route. There are limited concessions available for purchase on some nights. The route through the garden is one-way and directs you through all the decorated gardens and displays. There are several spots set up for family photos. It’s a fantastic spot to visit!

Kristen Bongard — Google review

First time visiting the Janesville Rotary Gardens (7.21.2023). It was just beautiful. Everything is laid out nicely and plenty of benches to relax and take in the gardens at your leisure! Staff is very friendly and greet you with a smile. Happy to answer questions or share their knowledge of the gardens. The gift shop had so many unique items, couldn't walk out without buying something. We brought our own lunch to enjoy on the terrace overlooking a fountain and the children's garden. Nice morning spent, will definitely go back again.

AmyLS — Google review

Our family all came here to see the Christmas lights. All the lights were amazing and beautiful. We all enjoyed ourselves. Our grandson said he's never seen so many lights. This is a must see.

Jane kinney — Google review

This place is absolutely magical! It is so astounding during the regular season to walk through, but Christmas time is magical. You might have to wait in line to get in and buy tickets ahead of time online, and may have to drive a little bit to get there. It is worth it, they do a fantastic job with the lights.

Dorene Rossman — Google review

What a pleasant surprise. Visiting the gardens is worth the trip. I took tons of pictures as every view was stunning. I was needing to fill sometime while others I was vacationing with did a strenuous hike. I think I got the long end of the stick.... gift shop was basic but prices reasonable and I purchased 2 items.

Bonnie B — Google review

Visitng this late in the season comes with its own challenges of things being in bloom or not. But these gardens were very relaxing to stroll through even when things weren't in bloom. Look out for the hidden gems and take a break from the hassle and bustle of everyday life. Bonus: Chicago Botanical Garden Holders can use their annual passes to gain free entry to the gardens, so make sure to check out the gift shop before you leave!

Kelsey Philippe — Google review

As part of The Come Back Chorus, we got to sing there at a Christmas Party! It was a very nice event with catered food from The Italian House. The Gardens are beautifully lit with colored lights.I've walked the gardens during the day and it's such a peaceful, meditative experience. Flowers, trees and plants. . .with many inspirational benches to rest on and ponder.

Steeny G — Google review

We went for the light show! It was absolutely beautiful! So thankful we got to go back in December. I truly look forward to seeing the gardens this summer as well!

Susan Munyon — Google review

Beautiful place to take a stroll! Dahlias were in full bloom when we went. Awesome little gem in Janesville! If you go in to the visitor center, by the bathrooms, there's a really cool group of historical pictures showing the transformation of the site. I really think that this historical stuff should be less hidden. It truly shows you how much difference gardens can improve the ordinary.

Don D — Google review

Rotary Botanical Gardens is stunning. The staff last Saturday was friendly and helpful. They joyfully took the time to teach us about the flowers we had questions about. 🩷 There's lots of love in those gardens, and it feels amazing to slowly walk through and enjoy all of the sights and smells. May is a beautiful time of year to waltz through. 🩷

Beck — Google review

Hidden gem of Janesville! The grounds are immaculate and well-cared-for the staff is amazing the gift shop is unmatched! I can't say enough about How wonderful this place is! The children's garden chooses a children's book every year and tells the story in flowers and Dioramas! Mind-blowingly cool. Just lovely! Definitely headed back for their Christmas light show that starts in November

Cathryn Stanek-Whisler — Google review

When I think of my favorite places to visit, this is one of them! Not a huge place, but every corner contains beauty of nature! Very quiet and peaceful setting with nice walking paths, many benches to sit and relax, photographer's dream! Made up of several themed areas into one large setting containing art of statues, ponds, flowers, trees and ferns, koi pond and lots of birds and small creatures. Easy parking, gift shop and fair admission prices. Great place for weddings and receptions. Highly recommend!

Julie Heeren — Google review

Very beautiful stroll with lots of lights. Company always makes it great! No pets allowed. Be sure to buy tickets online in advance! We went there the day after Thanksgiving and the opening weekend so line-waiting may vary.

Branden Baker — Google review

I can't recommend this place enough, their holiday lights are absolutely beautiful. It's not too expensive, bring your family, go more than once. most beautiful place.

Tracy Juisto — Google review

This was our first year to look at the lights for the botanical garden light show. We enjoyed the different sections that were set up to take pictures. Small concession stands and a beautiful gazebo. As long as your children can stand the weather it is worth the walk. Some places did seem a little rushed just because the amount of people on certain trails. Almost turned into herding cattle. The parking lot was unbelievably full and parking was not well lit and we ended up parking on a busy road with little children. I really want to go back in the summer to see all of the beautiful landscaping and foliage.

Jodie Schamper — Google review

We traveled 3.5 hours to attend the light show this year, and it was amazing. Parking is nuts. We had quite a walk, and the line was long but definitely worth it. We will be going back next year.

April Harmon — Google review

The Cellar Tasting experience was so fun! They take you down to their cellar room and walk you through the process. After they explain all of the wines on the menu you pick a wine flight with four choices. When your wine flight comes they also give you four chocolate truffles to pair with the wines and a cheese board. The board has three cheeses, three meats, olives, bread and butter, crackers and nuts. Once you get down to the last couple of wines they give you a full glass. Great two hours of enjoying wine and the company you came with.

Farm feel, small quaint, friendly, warm,personable....need I say more.Ice wine amazing! Lady in red excellent and I know little about wine.Always worth stopping. Feels like real wisconsin with all the barns. Beautiful property and excellent views.

Linda B — Google review

We had a great experience. The wine tasted good, the atmosphere was great, the little platter that we ordered. The only downside was the attitude of the lady at the counter, I guess one of the owners given that I was under the impression that it was run by a family. When I told her that they should consider installing a baby changing station in their restrooms, she just looked at me and said "I know" with a tone, completely dismissing what I said or what I had experienced minutes ago trying to change a baby diaper in my car. She could have said, "You're so right, we're so sorry about that, I promise we're working on it," and that statement alone would have made me feel better. Instead, her response made me regret tipping them 15% on what I had ordered, plus the wine that I purchased and got home with me. Lady, a baby changing station in today's world, is a necessity, is not a luxury. Please, do better.

We did a bachelorette wine tasting here. The whole group loved it! We loved the meat and cheese as well that came with our package. I have a peanut allergy and they were accommodating as well. Was a fun bachelorette stop!

So my wife and I were in Delavan Wisconsin in August this year for our 4-year wedding anniversary and decided to check out the Staller Estate Winery. Some of our neighborhood friends back home had mentioned it to us and we were very interested so we stopped in to check it out.It was a beautiful day. Sunny and 80°We loved it. They gave us a little tour of the grounds. They've got a beautiful store inside the winery to purchase wines that you taste if you do choose. They have all different types of wines to choose from. White red blush just to name a few. They also have wine flights, wine and chocolate flights, and dessert wine flights. My wife and I both tried some wine flightsAnd also ordered a bread, meat, and cheese platter that was out of this world!Very comfortable and cozy intimate setting.I highly recommend it to couples! Check this place out! It's a fun little thing to do in the afternoon and reasonably priced as well. Definitely will be hitting the Staller Estate Winery back again next year.Thank you to the staff. It was incredible!

Beautiful Winery a short distance from I-43 in southern (Richmond) Wisconsin. Nicely laid out, plenty of room inside and out. Greeted as soon as we walked in. Large selection of wines. Tasting is reasonable. The ($20) meat and cheese tray was incredible. We bought for ourselves and others. Will definitely return. Worth the stop / your time. Enjoy!

Allen Watts — Google review

This is a 3.8 star review. You are not in Napa or Sonoma, but this is a delightful little surprise, charming stop over, romantic date idea, or you name it! We happened to find it driving by and enjoyed a quick bottle while sitting by the wine yard. There were other people doing the same and enjoying some snacks and charcuterie boards. A groomed vineyard is such a beautiful view and relaxing. I can imagine what this place would look like in fall and we will be back to find out. Wines are nice, priced very reasonably. They have a big shop/bar area with all kinds of merchandise and wines. They also make co*cktails. Parking is free. There are indoor tables as well as outdoors. Get a bottle and pick your seat!

Barbara Gulten — Google review

I really enjoyed this winery. It had great places to sit both inside and outside. They have a great selection of wines, co*cktails, and food. The staff was very friendly, and we had an excellent time. Even the drive was pretty.

This was such an interesting place. To stand were Albert Einstein once stood was surreal. It was truly a step back in time. Stunningly beautiful. It was history in 3D. Highly recommend for adults that have any interest in astronomy and/or history. Incredible - you will NOT be disappointed.

Stunning restoration and energetic and inspiring tour by a scientist on the Space and Spaces tour. To marvel at the origins of modern astrophysics and think how far we have come in 120 years is humbling and rewarding. Don't miss a chance to visit Yerkes! Advance tickets required. Yerkes also hosts lectures and other events throughout the month, including at the arboretum on site.

It is still closed for restoration, so we only walked around the grounds. A beautiful landmark, can't wait to tour the inside of of these days. And yes, I fully expect to be amazed by the interior!

P. C. — Google review

I am so glad they opened up again and are restoring the building. My 15, 12 and 11 year old kids loved the tour. My daughter even got to push the button to make the observatory deck go down. I'm excited to see what they offer in 2023. Keep up the great work!

Kim Anderson — Google review

We simply stopped by to admire the observatory from the outside - a bit too cloudy and hazy. This is a beautiful building. The architecture is beautiful and the details are something to see - truly don’t make them like this anymore. We were also entertained by a large flock of turkeys that was joined for dinner by a good sized doe.

Recently reopened, knowledgeable tour guides for a fascinating piece of local history. Looking forward to when the telescopes are in use for public viewings (estimated spring 2024). Fun partnership with local artists for the tallest glass Christmas tree.

Nicole Rice — Google review

A magnificent place. The Telescope that discovered the Big Bang. Recently flew out to Chicago to visit this observatory outside of Chicago. The building is magnificent the architectural detail is spectacular. There is a story in almost every column in the building. Here is the telescope that Edwin Hubble used, Carl Sagan used and Albert Einstein used. Who knows what future scientist might get their spark for science here.Dan Koehler & Richard Dreiser could not have extended any greater hospitality then they did. I was supposed to observe through the scope that night but the rain had other ideas. Still they made it a wonderful visit. Thank you both! Please University of Chicago make sure that this special place stays intact when it closes on October 1, 2018. This place can fire up the imaginations of young people and enrich many future generations. But most of all this is a wonderful place to visit hurry up and do so before it closes. I hope the Yerkes Observatory finds its ways into the hands of a non profit that will share its telescope with the community and future generations - I hope it will never be turned into condos or dismantled.I hope before the Observatory closes that someone could put a CMOS camera and take some images with the scope. This should be a National Landmark. Wonderful special and beautiful place.

Joe Vitacco — Google review

Best tour! On a scale if 1-5 it is a 15. See it while you can! Beautiful architecture. Lots of fun history and science. Entertaining, interesting, behind the scenes info. A restoration in progress - place worthy of support.

My husband and I were in Lake Geneva, looking for things to do. We have an average level of interest in astronomy and history, and we bought tickets to the Yerkes Observatory on a whim. The tour was FANTASTIC -- worth every cent. Walt was our tour guide and he was exceedingly knowledgeable, very passionate about all that is going on at Yerkes Observatory, and super fun. Restoration is ongoing, and it sounds like they are working on developing new programming as well. There's a lot of important and exciting work happening -- we can't wait to come back!

Great historic site, exciting to see where these pivotal discoveries happened. Beautiful grounds, amazing instrument that still works.

Vincent Siegfried — Google review

Thsi was the best part of my Lake Geneva trip! The building itself if full of life, beautiful architectural intricacies, and just has a whimsy to it. Our tour guide was fabulous, and the information we got was super fascinating. It is a one of a kind experience and is hands-on at some points, which is something I haven't seen before. I would certainly go back here and recommend it to anyone in the area!

Brielle Rach — Google review

Talk about a gorgeous building, on an amazing site, with the largest telescope anywhere! Took the mini-tour. It was only 30 minutes, but worth it. They have a 33' spun glass Christmas tree out front. Go see it when it lights up on tge 17th.

Marilee Gloe — Google review

We were unable to get tour tickets for the dates we were in the area, but visited the grounds. We had a great time exploring the exterior of the building and it's historic architecture. We did not finish the grounds trail due to extreme weather. I would go back again to experience the indoor tours.

Ana Carmona — Google review

I've wanted to visit Yerkes for years and it definitely did not disappoint. Our guides were very knowledgeable and their passion made the evening even more enjoyable. We were able to look through the 24" telescope and see several objects but seeing Saturn was amazing. Can't wait to go back once the largest telescope is ready to look through.

Trish C — Google review

Beautiful building, amazing history, and one of the best tour guides I’ve ever had. The restoration work they’ve done is gorgeous. I highly recommend this to anyone who lives in or is visiting the area!

Nature & Parks

3,092 acres for year-round outdoor sports plus 2 lakes, hiking & horse trails, camping & a cafe.

Great place to enjoy nature! A gem located in N. IL. Pierce Lake offers fishing, boating, kayaking and sailing. Very nice boat ramp. The lake does get a lot of fishing pressure so the catching can be tough. The park offers nice clean well maintained camping spots but it can get very busy in the summer.

Randy Price — Google review

A must place to visit as you are exploring Rockford. The lake view is superb on a sunny afternoon. Lots of trails and are there. It also offers campground and pier for fishing. A drive through the park is worth it too.

Md. Al-Amin — Google review

I would love to camp here sometime, has well maintained trails. Lots of birds on the water, it's beautiful no matter which side of the park you're on. All pets must be leashed and the park closes at 10pm if you don't want to be locked in.

Cuppy UwU — Google review

Enjoyed our day trip. Spend most of the time kayaking on Pierce Lake, Olson Lake was closed at the time. Park offers many outdoor activities: biking, horse riding( there is a separate equestrian area on the west side of the park), kayaking, boat riding, fishing and many others. We brought our own kayaks, and there is no charge to launch it. There is rental facility as well, where you can rent canoe/kayak. Enjoy watching wildlife, you have come to the right place. Come, relax and admire the beaty of nature at the state park of Northern Illinois, you will not regret it!

Khrystyna Prokhorenko — Google review

One of my favorite state parks in the chicago area, this is located right in Rockford but is one of the largest state parks in Illinois. A huge campground with five different areas, lots of well maintained trails, boat rentals available, tons of fishing opportunities, two stores a camp store and a bait/fish store, beautiful forests and prairie areas, and a small cafe serving up breakfast lunch and ice cream. An amazing way to get away close to home, I highly recommend this state park!

Susannah Ball — Google review

There are a lot of trails to explore should you choose. There are also paddle boats, kayaks, canoes, and row boats that you can rent. Near the boat launch there is a concession stand that has a nice menu for mid hike snacks or lunch. Before starting a trail be sure to check the signage. There are a ton of trails, so before you start make sure to plan a route and stick to it. If you do get lost, most trails intersect roads where you can better orient yourself.A nice place to spend the day in the stateline.

Old T. — Google review

Love this State park! Our parks in Wisconsin are not free like they are in Illinois, you must have a park sticker. Tons of walking trails, fishing, camping and of course the wildlife! Take your camera with you if you go out and enjoy nature!

Lorie Scherf — Google review

The Eagle cabin is great and private. It has two rooms that have overhead lights, ceiling fans, outlets, and heaters for cooler nights. The rear bedroom has two bunk beds and the front room has a double bed with a 4 person table and six stacking chairs. Water and pit toilets are a short walk away. You'll enjoy amazing panoramic views of the lake and woods. If you're lucky the rafter of turkeys will stop by and graze on the hillside adjacent to the cabin. If you get a chance to stay here, you won't be disappointed.

SVK — Google review

Had to take advantage of the amazing weather to check this place out. Parked in the parking lot by the lake and explored around the area. I didn't realize it at the time but the area I was in was a dog training area, which is adorable. Doggos welcome there! I enjoyed how wide the trails were and how secluded it could feel at times. I saw a lot of beautiful wildflowers and there were plenty of opportunities for birding. Plenty of parking, rest benches, and picnic tables.

Hannah Banana — Google review

I've been going to rock cut since I was a kid. Camping, hiking, boating, fishing, it has it all. I personally do mostly fishing and kayaking (calm waters and decent size fish). If you like a more laid back experience, I recommend hiking. They also have quite the variety of wild fruits and herbs, don't forget about the morals mushrooms (I think I spelled that right). All around great spot to get some nature in one's life!

Kyle Schafman — Google review

This is a very large, beautiful state park. We visited on a Friday when the weather was cool and overcast. The lake is much bigger than what I remember as a young Boy Scout when we camped out here in the park. I recommend visiting this park if you are in the Rockford/Loves Park area.

Steven Spearing — Google review

Beautiful camping park. Wide open. A big lake. Hiking trails. I just wish the tent spots only would have more trees making it more private. I recommend staying 2 to 3 nights to soak it in

Jeane — Google review

Wonderful place to go hiking with your family. Great natural trails if you want a fun outing any time of year this is the place to go very expensive family fun.

Michael Maves — Google review

The park itself is very clean and organized. There's an abundance of toilet facilities to use and some with showers. We had a fantastic time on the kayaks on the water! Hiking trails available are pretty sweet.HOWEVER, be sure to reserve your spot ahead of time, we almost didn't get a spot when we got there 😰. Overall we had a great time and will totally be back! The wildlife we saw was amazing as well!

Ashley V.C. — Google review

Good park. Easy hiking around the entire lake with a 5 year old in 1.5 hours. Not too busy, well maintained, and good food at the lone rock cafe!Update 24/12/2023: the park now has new roads and parking lots, and a new asphalt trail around several sections of the lake. The kids pond has also been rejuvenated with a parking lot and concrete fishing pads around a pond that has been cleared of overgrowth. Very nice upgrades in progress.

Nature & Parks

We LOVE taking our train loving toddler here for picnics. Also a great place to stop on a road trip. Trains go by all the time. There are heated bathrooms (but there are not changing tables in the bathrooms).Park is handicap accessible. I've never been there when the museum/gift shop is open.

Elizabeth Bahr — Google review

Cool place, nice stop on way to Chicago. The place was clean and well kept. Solid information there, also good views and a train came through which the kids loved. There is a lot to see but nothing really to do, so it will be a quick stop.

Frank Haege — Google review

It's so great to have a park like this, that I am torn writing this review. On the one hand, this is a really unique resource. It was clean, and all the other patrons were nice. It's also a unique location with 2 railroads crossing each other. On the other hand there was a lot of construction (yes, to make the park nicer, so a visit in the future will be better), but worse, there was very little train traffic. Saw like 3 trains in (I think) 2 hours, one of which we saw at JB tower and passed in the car in the way here. For me personally, a lot of "action" is 1 train every 10 minutes on average. I would say if you are in the area, and you like trains, it's worth a stop.

S G* — Google review

2023:Free admission, free parking.Souvenir stand/bathrooms open year round (hours vary)Lots of benches and picnic tables,Gazebo gives shade from the sun and shelter from the rain.BNSF/UP scanner frequencies posted, but there's also a speaker which broadcasts scanner info in real time, if you don't have one.Great place for railfanning.Watch the kids; this isn't a park or playground....if you have "enthusiastic railfans" in your group, maybe educate them on photo-line etiquette so they're not running around in front of other people's cameras.Remember also, there's live public web-cams so watch what you say and do.2018: Free admission, free parking.Little gift/coffee shop open 10-5 six days a week (closed Tuesday).Several covered areas with picnic tables, and a BBQ pit.Not a playground (!!!) But I've seen families here enjoying the trains go by.Nice to just hang out, talk to people, watch BNSF and Union Pacific...

Tammy Frakking — Google review

Very nice park if you're into trains. Would be good for littles. Has a little area where you can sit and build a fire

Joyce cannon — Google review

This is a great little park. If your kids are at all interested in trains, it's worth the drive for the unique crossing. There's also a museum and gift shop on site.

Michael Lofthouse — Google review

There is a little visitor center which is nice.Since there is no schedule for when freight trains are coming through you either have to be lucky - or you need to bring some time. Our 5 year old was bored after 20min of waiting.

Ramona Sam Decker — Google review

I love coming down here. If you are a train buff then you will find your people here! I come down because I love to photograph the graffiti and the kiddos just love watching the trains go by. It's a wonderful way to pass a beautiful day.

Scott Hall — Google review

Great place to come for a picnic and to sit and watch the trains roll by. I've lived nearby all my life and didn't know about the existence of this park until I read about it in a travel book. If you're a train lover like I am, you'll love it.

D Kelly — Google review

What a fun surprise! We were lucky enough to see some trains pass through and chat with a train enthusiast who gave us some history of the rail lines. It was a great pit stop on a long road trip!

The people were nice, the drinks were great. The tour was fun and Jon was both hilarious and informative. It's certainly worth a visit! The rye was my favorite, and there wasn't anything I've tried that I disliked. That said, I haven't tried their vodka.

Awesome visit to Whiskey Acres. The tour by Phoebe was excellent, so informative and very fun, I've had several of their bourbons over the past couple years including the BiB Bourbon, the Maple aged whiskey, the Blue Popcorn Bourbon and the glass corn bourbon but today was my first time visiting the distillery and adding their BiB Rye to my tastings. Why did I wait so long 😊

Scott McGowan — Google review

Whiskey and Illinois, May not the first thing which comes to mind. But trust me it goes well together here at whiskey acres. These guys know what they are doing. Their whiskey is exceptionally. If you’re close (or far) and love whiskey go for it.They also offering tours including tasting. Well worth the time if you want to learn their way of distilling.

Andre Hesse — Google review

Went in for a Sunday for a Flight and some co*cktails. Friendly knowledgeable staff. Drinks a little pricey for the size, but taste fantastic so it is worth it! Well worth stopping by if youre within the Chicagoland area.

Tiny Biohazard — Google review

We had a great experience here. Started off with a really cool venue, then we took a very informative tour on how they make whiskey and the differences between the types of whiskey. At the end we got the sample and keep the shot glasses. They had good live music and the co*cktail drinks were really tasty. You'll definitely be back in the summer. I'm told they have food trucks that come throughout the summer

Corey McLaughlin — Google review

LOVE this place and the people who work there! There is always a crowd, good music, good food trucks and delicious drinks. It is a must visit within DeKalb County in the summertime!

A Smith — Google review

Took the tasting tour and listened to some good music. International award winning spirits too.Nice outdoor patio areas to sit and enjoy.Staff are entertaining and fun!Tonight they featured some local bbq from Blue Moon as well. Not bad at all!

Shaun Hays — Google review

One of our favorite distilleries in the area. While the selection of spirits and mixed drinks is wonderful, the atmosphere really makes this place special. Beautiful and inviting space, along with all kinds of merch and bottles for sale.

Tanveer Sarwar — Google review

What an absolute gem in DeKalb County!!!! Unbelievable bourbon, mixed drinks, and atmosphere. Incredibly helpful staff!

Marty Eich — Google review

Great indoor and outdoor atmosphere. Live music and food trucks on weekends frequently. The tour is fun too.

Danica Lovings — Google review

Such a cool fun place! Wish we lived closer or we would be here every weekend. Such amazing staff, so nice, knowledgeable and friendly! They go above & beyond! Great whiskeys & drinks, love that they do all of it from top to bottom. It truly is a farm family making a great product. Brings the feels of my own families’ farms. They have such a cute atmosphere & we only went during a snow storm, so can only get better from here with better weather. The tour was so much fun & in depth, learned so much. Kids & dogs welcome & they have multiple fun events there too!

Zoo

Zoos & Aquariums

Peoria Zoo is an impressive park that boasts over 100 species from around the world, including some that are endangered. Visitors can enjoy feeding giraffes and exploring African installations. Although tickets may be slightly expensive, the overall experience is worth it. One of the main highlights of the zoo is the wooden bridge which provides access to a fantastic vantage point for viewing giraffes. Another exciting attraction is the lion viewpoint where visitors can hear the roar of these majestic animals.

I've been to this zoo 4 times. It has 4 sections; combined it took us about 90 minutes. All the animals are up close. The entire zoo has a balance of sun and shade. Quite a few animals for a small zoo. Very stroller friendly; ramps instead of stairs. The 3 sections are:1.) "the original section" which is a building that has monkeys, foxes and an outside area with a barn with goats and donkeys and a conservation center2.) an Asian section which has a handful of exhibits with animals like tigers and takins, and a small building with snakes and bats3.) an African section which takes up almost half the area with big enclosures for rhinos, zebras, and the like4.) an Australian walkaboutZoo is very clean, well-maintained - and can do as much or as little as you like. And.. there's a children's museum within walking distance as well!

Dave Cameron — Google review

Nice smaller zoo. My fiance was very happy with the three giraffes. It was very quiet with not many people, but it was Monday afternoon. This was actually a plus for us since it seemed more intimate without a bunch of people.

Kelly Carver — Google review

Terribly disappointed. The whole reason I went there was to see a naked mole rat which was featured on the website.( the only other zoo with naked mole rat is Bronx). There is major construction there, you can see like 3 animals in total. But weather was nice and walking through the zoo was nice, hence 2 stars.

Monika Prost — Google review

Overall experience is awesome. Tickets are little pricey but still we can visit this one. The setup is quite nice, particularly the wooden bridge which gives access to giraffe viewpoint are wonderful. Lion viewpoint is quite adventurous, the lion is indeed roaring and rocking here.

Nirmala manisekar — Google review

Im not a fan of zoos but this one seemed clean and well taken care of. Amazing what they can do right in the middle of your neighborhood!

Jeremy — Google review

my hometown zoo. I always enjoy coming here when I visit. lots of interesting species of animals and nice exhibits!

Sarah Coffey — Google review

Small zoo but nicely arranged. Plenty to look at and enjoy. The animals all seem to be well taken care of and staff are all nice and knowledgeable.

H Simon — Google review

We love our zoo!My kids are 3 and 4, and we have so much fun when we go.Not everything is open yet this year and we still spent an hour and half looking at the different animals.(4/21)I would recommend the family pass if you live close by.It can be crowded at times, but with the pass we have been really lucky to feel like we had the exhibits to ourselves for a nice amount of time if you go at slow parts of the day.So happy to have a zoo like this close by!

Chris Tapp — Google review

It's a small zoo but the kids enjoyed themselves. They do not have a carousel or train like some other zoos but my kids didn't notice. Can get through the zoo in about an hour, 2 max. Most animals were active when we were there in mid March with temps in 50s. Only animals that were still not in exhibits due to cold were the alligator and tortoise as expected.

Samantha Merten — Google review

Very nice and well kept zoo right in Peoria. All of the exhibits were easy to see in 1 day and there were employees who were able to talk about the animals. Do not sleep on this zoo if you have never been!

Mike McGillivry — Google review

This zoo needs some TLC. We enjoyed it, but it's not as nice as it was when I went in 2008.I love being able to get close to a giraffe. I wish we could have been able to feed it ourselves. I didn't think it was quite worth $5 just to stand closer to it. The Walk About was probably my favorite part. I didn't read the sign and had a big surprise when there was a Wallaby right inside the gate just sitting there 😳😂I thought the exercise trail/QR codes were really cool!

Sherie Loverkamp — Google review

The best small town zoo around. We drove down from the Quad Cities and it was absolutely worth it! We will definitely be coming back again and again. The design is great they definitely took line of sight into consideration because you actually get to see the animals. The Australia walk about is so cool! Being so close to the animals free roaming around is awesome. Feeding the Giraffe is the best! The amount of shade going through the zoo is great! You aren't baking in the sun the whole time you're there, you're actually in the shade most of the time. Their food and drink options are great and they don't cost an arm and a leg like other places. The gift shop is large and has a great selection, again it is very reasonably priced. Just all around a fantastic zoo.The one "bad" thing I do want to say is the walking paths are a little beat up. It was a little difficult pushing a stroller and walking you do have to watch out for potholes and large cracks. There are also some steep inclines that older and disabled might find difficult.

Aaron White — Google review

Africa part of the zoo is good, the rest of the areas are not at all appealing. There is large snake I was surprised with the size of the snake it’s huge. The lion doesn’t have enough room I feel like and over all it’s ok one time thing. The cafeteria hardly has any items on the menu, even those that are on menu weren’t offered as their machine broke.

Sweety N — Google review

Not very many animals. It was an OK zoo. Was it work 12.50? Not really in my opinion. But we did go at the end of March. 🤷‍♂️

The Caterpillar Visitors Center offers interactive exhibits showcasing the company's history and powerful machines, including diggers, tractors, and trucks from vintage to modern. The exhibition center is staffed by friendly individuals who are knowledgeable about CAT. Their dedication extends to teaching young children how to operate simulation machines and vehicles. Expert testimonials have described the museum as awesome. Recommended for those interested in learning more about this monster machine company.

Awesome experience to learn this monster machine company. My father in law worked for caterpillar for over 35 years. We know it is an awesome and powerful company that he’s always been proud to work for. The exhibition center is very nice, we learned a lot of things about CAT and the staffs here are very nice and friendly.

LULU . LIVE — Google review

Okay, so I mostly went here for my boys, ages 3 and 6 years, but ended up entertaining not only myself, but my 10 and 8 year old girls. We got to climb into actual Caterpillar machinery, learn about engines and saw a few of their best marketing campaigns. We enjoyed ourselves.

Nikol Richards — Google review

this place has a cool exhibit, lots of interesting history displayed, and very knowledgeable and kind staff. Norbert, one of the retired CAT employees, was very knowledge in the field and was more than willing to go the extra steps to help us learn about the history of CAT and how it became the company it is today. if we ever were in town again, we would 100% come back and plan of recommending this place to others!

Friday; expert testimonial. Bash proclaims Cat Museum "Awesome"!Saturday; "Grampa, I have a idea... We can go back to the museum."

Doane Brubaker — Google review

A great place to visit if you’re interested in the history of Caterpillar. There are many things too see but the only thing that will catch your eyes is the big mining truck. There are some pretty cool simulators which you can sit on and try using the different controls. The employees working here are retired Cat employees. I was assisted by Skip and Rose. Had a great conversation with both of them. Very kind , sweet and knowledgeable. Thank you.

Karan Pai — Google review

It's great fun for boys ages 1 to 62! This was a fun cousin memory. Kids under 12 are free, and adults are only $7, so it is a very cost-effective family activity.

Brianna Gullett — Google review

If you like to know about Caterpillar history it is a good place to visit. The tour starts with a video about the global footprints and the services the company is doing. When you go downstairs you can witness the 100 year old long history and the company's evolution. They showcased every possible product they produce and there are some simulators in which you can sit and operate, and you can feel the machine operation. There are some CAT merchandise available for sale upstairs.

Mahesh Kumar — Google review

Not only was this place awesome to see, but every single person that worked there was absolutely amazing! They even took the time to teach my young kids how to maneuver the simulation machines and the few vehicles that they could get in. Would definitely recommend going!!

Jenn G — Google review

Very well done and cool museum. After reading some reviews, thought it would be smaller than what it was, but thought it was overall a well done history of the company. Getting to see some equipment on display was fun and then the simulators were cool as well.

Shane Burgess — Google review

Lots of fun for the whole family! There are simulators to try, Cats to hop on and sit in, a seven room engineering museum type thing- and all of the employees are really nice too.

hodelia hayat — Google review

Truly enjoyed watching the bulky tractors and engines. Good place to visit with your family. The staff were so kind. But the clothes at the store were quite expensive.

saleha sultana — Google review

We saw a sign for this place on the highway and visited it on a whim. Street parking is available, which you can pay for easily by phone. It is 7 USD for adults and free for the kids. You enter the cargo area of their mining truck to watch a short video, then take the stairs to the display area. Very clever way to display and get people to appreciate the truck's size. The kids enjoyed the simulator, which lets you practice several pieces of equipment. Much better quality than those simulators you find in other places. I guess these were developed for actual training.

Jaehyup Kim — Google review

It is very cool to see the history of how it started from a small to large truck. The simulation is very great. There is a cinema in a big truck. This museum is worth your time.Only one negative - there don't have to access to offer such subtitles (closed captioning). I hope they can provide them for deaf or people who are in need of it.

Kehinde Ogunbayo — Google review

You start the experience watching a movie in the back of a large mining truck. Then you continue on a self-guided tour of the history of CAT. Kids can climb into various CAT machines. There are interactive experiences to drive CAT bulldozers and excavators. We spent about an hour there.

Lindsey Nelson — Google review

I have swing by at the visitor center aiming to learn more about CAT history and legacy, in special regarding the entrepreneurship across the decades. As supplier it was a honor.

Robertson Souza — Google review

It’s amazing to see the big trucks and know about the history. The simulation is great to try the machines and feel the action.Very well maintained and very well designed with a lot of information

We went right when it opened on a Thursday morning so it wasn't crowded at all . All of the workers are very knowledgeable and very friendly. The David Davis Mansion is a well-preserved Victorian house and garden that belonged to a prominent 19th-century family. The mansion showcases period artwork and technology, providing visitors with an opportunity to time-travel back to the early 1800s. The volunteer guide is knowledgeable about the history of the location, which has connections to Lincoln. Special events are held at the mansion throughout the year, such as Christmas celebrations and car shows. While entry is currently free, donations are appreciated.

I had a lovely time walking through this well-preserved mansion. The decor was recreated so nicely, as if the original owner merely stepped out for the day. I felt as though I had time traveled back to the early 19th century. Truly a sight to behold! My volunteer guide was wonderful at relaying information about this location as well. It’s currently free to walk the grounds although a donation is always appreciated. I had a spectacular time envisioning an era long since passed, thank you.

Love Notes for TLC — Google review

These old houses in Illinois are really a treasure. I especially love the old Architecture and seeing how people used to live. The tour guide was awesome, but the video was a bit on the boring side (and I like this stuff). Overall a very good visit.Plan on about an hour.

Nikol Richards — Google review

I really loved the history of it! Judge Davis had influence and helped president Lincoln! I also learned different information culturally about Christmas decorations and why the Teddy bear was called Teddy bear. It felt warm and nice. Usually mansions feel stuffy and museum like but this was not the case! They took good care of it and I really loved being there! The people that worked there went above and beyond with the tours and information!

Aimee J. — Google review

Fantastic house museum! The guide was very knowledgeable. Would highly recommend to visit

Worth a quick stop like we did. Didn't have chance for a free house tour but had a quick walk around the exterior. Pretty cool building worth a look.

Jack Michael — Google review

I visited the mansion during their Christmas at the mansions festival. Most of the rooms were decorated for Christmas. There were many trees and other decorations. The mansion is always good. Place to visit throughout the year as they do themed room decorations on a regular basis.

Glenn Harbin — Google review

Wow. How many times do you get a free mansion tour? Of course, donations are encouraged. Great history of Mr. Davis and a very unique house. Well worth a tour. Don't miss it.

Michael Miller — Google review

ChatGPT suggested this as a tour to me. Turns out AI is not all bad. Lovely volunteers , who share the history of this estate with great care . Highly recommend taking time out to step back to another era .

Brigitte Ferdinandsen — Google review

Pretty cool place if you’re into old Victorian homes and American history. The volunteers there were all very nice and gave a great tour. Would recommend.Just know that the video and tours start at the top of the hour and there isn’t much to see if you don’t go on the tour since you cannot access the interior of the house without a guide. So really no point to go after hours.

Evan M — Google review

Wonderful experience! Staff is very knowledgeable about the Davis family, the era and the Lincoln connections.

Benji Craig — Google review

Really great (free) tour if you're in the area. I love history so this was nice. It started off with a video about the history of the mansion and then we headed off through the front of the mansion. If you're in the area I'd definitely recommend checking it out.

Park

Miller Park Zoo is a public recreational area that boasts of a lake, pavilion, bandstand and war memorials among other attractions. The zoo is home to various animals including those not commonly found in larger zoos. Unfortunately, some bird enclosures were closed due to the ongoing bird flu outbreak within the county. Nonetheless, visitors can still enjoy watching animal training sessions such as those for otters while learning more about them at the same time.

It was a decent experience. Across from it is Miller park , which has a water splash and a nice play area for the little ones. The kids loved it 😍. The price is very reasonable, this is a smaller zoo so not as many big animals. Staff were friendly and this little zoo looks well kept and was very clean and the restrooms are clean and smelled sanitized. Small zoo, however what they did offer kept my little ones attention😀

D W — Google review

Really amazing for a small town! Become a member if you're local! They have otters, snow leopards, wolves, axolotl, snow leopards, red pandas, sakis, alligators, and many other animals. When my daughter was younger, she loved feeding goats an playing in their area, there's a carousel, budgie feeding is fun, the rainforest part is amazing, and they are adding more areas! In the summer they offer free educational programs, we sat through many of those when my daughter was younger, the bring real animals, and kids can touch/pet them, and learn about them in an interactive manner. The gift shop is decent, concessions area is open till 4 and is OK. The playground outside and the splash pad are amazing! So if you're thinking about visiting, this could be a whole day thing, only that you'd need to pack lunch, not many restaurants close by. We still love to visit, my daughter now loves all those things, we're still members, and the zoo provides a really nice are to walk around with small kids and family. Staff are friendly and always ready to answer questions. We attended a birthday party at their community room, so all in all a great resource for families in the area.

Elahe Javadi — Google review

Stopped here while on a family road trip, passing through. It was the perfect pit stop for my toddler to enjoy and burn off some energy. Zoo is on the smaller side but that was exactly what we needed with not a lot of time to spare. We spent about an hour to tour the entire zoo. They had an area under construction, so more animals/exhibits in the future. We would definitely come back if we’re in the area in the future.

Aimee Murphy — Google review

Visiting from Chicago area for the weekend. Had no idea that Bloomington Normal had an AZA accredited zoo; Was very pleasantly surprised that they did. $6.50 admission plus a small donation was well worth the time we had. Our favorite animals were the flamingos (right when you walk in) and the wallabies in the Wallaby Walkabout. Throughout the zoo I was excited by just how close they let you get to some of the animals. When compared to some of the larger zoos, Miller Park has a smaller selection of animals, but what they did have were well presented in nice enclosures that you could get close to. After this visit I might prefer smaller accredited zoos such as this to the larger ones. But regardless, this is a great zoo absolutely worth visiting next time you're in the area or passing through and want a fun 1-2 hour experience! We'll be back soon!

Evan Salmon — Google review

We are SO GLAD we stopped by here. We had some other plans in Bloomington and coming to this wonderful zoo was a great way to spend the morning. The animals seemed healthy and happy and there were some areas where the animals were able to roam freely (Australian section and birds in the tropical section). We will be back and are looking forward to the new exhibit (I think South American animals?) under construction. It was a small and intimate zoo but it was extremely high quality.Did I mention RED PANDAS?

Drew Tschirki — Google review

A small zoo with genuinely happy and pleasant staff. Nice opportunities to get up close with the animals and interact at times. There's a petting zoo where you can feed the goats. There is a Carousel and simulated hurricane experience inside the zoo. There is also a very large playground right next to the zoo. It shares the same parking lot. Miller Park zoo is definitely worth going to and experiencing. We will be back. My children's ages ranged from 1 to 11. Everyone had fun: even the adults.

Qeren hap-puwk Yisra'el — Google review

went to the zoo with a couple of friends and their kid it was really neat to see some animals you wouldn't see at a bigger zoo only thing i wish is that the bird enclosures hadn't been closed due to the bird flu going on in the county but i understand that it was for the safety of the animals was fun to learn about the otters as they trained and fed them

Mary Vervynck — Google review

Beautifully well maintained zoo. While in the Wallabe enclosure we got to see one jump one end to the other! All the Kookaburras laughed at same time & Pink co*ckatoo said Hi & giggled. The large tortoises walked a bit. The red panda beautiful. The Sumatran Tiger we watched for a half an hour so majestic. So many endangered species to see here. We will be back!!!

Jennifer Munoz — Google review

A very nice little zoo with a lot to see really up close and personal. Took us about 90 minutes to see it all but we didn't do the petting zoo portion. There's also a big playground right outside in the same parking lot. If you're driving by on the interstate and need a fun pit stop, this is perfect.

Rich Calligan — Google review

Our first time visiting was in Father’s Day 2023.A great time for all of us. 8 people in total. Gram & Gramp, 2 adult sons with their loved ones and 2 babies. Age range 62 - newborn. Fun for everyone. A great way for families to spend time enjoying zoo and celebrating the Dads.

Angel Highsmith — Google review

VERY IMPRESSED with the Miller Park Zoo. Admission tickets were I think $7 or $8 bucks. Wife and myself both had a zoo date for under $20. The animals and zoo scenery were above expectations coming from a smaller zoo. I come from chicago where brookfield zoo tickets are like $50. The turtle exhibit was so fun to watch. The walking paths were very well kept and gets very close to the animals.Check out this little gemHighly recommendCheers!

Mark Stromberg — Google review

5 star Zoo, the only "issue" I had was they wouldn't allow me to bare chest box the gorilla. The staff politely led me to the gift shop where they told me I could buy a stuffy and fight it at home. Will definitely return later this summer.

Nate Blankenship — Google review

My son's favorite zoo of all time and he has been to zoos from coast to coast and everywhere in-between. He loved the rare tiger, the real tree in the snow leopard exhibit, the anteater, and the axolata.

Richard Lahr — Google review

I had such a good time here! I think this zoo is the perfect size, everything is super close together so you don't have to walk forever to get to a specific section. For a zoo on the smaller side, I didn't expect it to have such cool animals, but there were red pandas, flamingos, otters, a tiger, and so many others! You can get super close to some of the animals because the fences are right where they hang out in their areas. We got to pet a goat (it might have been a different animal, I'm not sure) because it came right up to the fence at the petting zoo.I'd say we waited between 3 and 5 minutes, only because there were a few families in front of us, but it took less than a minute when it was our turn.Overall, it was a great experience and I definitely recommend going there if you are passing through or just looking for something to do for an hour or two.

Truly cool roadside attraction! We all loved it and thought it was a very cool photo opportunity. Lincoln, reading a law book, is 12 foot tall and the covered wagon is 24 foot tall. There is a stand nearby with information about how it is the tallest covered wagon in the world. We love roadside attractions and this is a great one just off old Route 66.

Gary — Google review

Not a real wagon, but more of a large yard decoration. If you a near by it is worth stopping to see it, but I would not drive out of your way. My 3 year old really like it, but older kids will not be impressed.

Brandon Bowman — Google review

This is a nice little excursion on a road trip. It is only a few miles off the main road, and you can continue to pick up the highway at the next exit. It is well preserved and clean with plenty of parking. Fun to see things like this and break up the trip and walk around for a minute with really losing a lot of time. Well worth the few minutes it took.

Mister Bond — Google review

Kinda cool looking wagon. Interesting why this was built. Nice little side trip to see it.

Marie Spencer — Google review

The World's Largest Railsplitter Covered Wagon is a landmark right off of Interstate 55. It is a neat attraction, and you only need 5-10 minutes to make a quick stop and snap a few photos. If you like roadside attractions be sure to take some time and see this. If you need a bathroom, the American Legion next door is open to the public and has bathrooms available.

Jason Hill — Google review

It's lost it's cover but it's still huge. You can't climb on it. Technically they call it the world's largest rails platter. I think they should add some ox in front of it so Abe can get moving lol.

Leon Demond — Google review

If you an extra 10 minutes, it’s a fun way to stretch your legs because it’s not too far off the highway. It needs some upkeep and yard work. Fun for the kids to see.

Kristen Whitman — Google review

Most flock to Springfield, IL for Lincoln. This roadside attraction featuring President Lincoln on a wagon is not too far from Springfield. The near by watermelon christening site is worth to visit too.

LS fanatic — Google review

This is such a neat place to visit if you’re in Lincoln. If you’re traveling Route 66 this is a must see spot. This is the World’s Largest Rail splitter Wagon. Great photo spot. #bucketlist

Cool Roadside attraction along Route 66 in Lincoln Illinois, plenty of parking nearby with a information kiosk in front. Definitely a sight to see if you are in the area.

Darrell Powers — Google review

We stopped to visit the Covered Wagon in the beginning of May, 2023. Unfortunately the wagon has been damaged by high winds. As such the attraction is under construction to repair the damage. You can still see it and take pictures. But it is taped off to keep folks at a distance. At this point, the wagon is on jacks and is missing its left rear wheel. Although Abe is still piloting the wagon. He says hi.

Sponge Bob — Google review

This covered wagon in Lincoln, Illinois, is the largest covered wagon in the world and is located near historic Route 66. The 24 foot tall statue of Abe Lincoln reading a law book is quite impressive to say the least.

Jeremy Schindorff — Google review

Review Date: March 11th, 2014To quote my friend; “It’s not even covered!”Now, to be fair and to preface this blog post, we did stop by after it received some storm damage. So the state it was in when we visited is not a representation of what it actually looks like. The low score is from my initial visit. Should I happen to make it back, I will update the score and post new photos to reflect what it really presents. Looking into it for this blog post, I would rather like to see it in it’s former glory as it looks really cool!Okay, so with all that in mind, my friends and I left Springfield after a day of exploring. On the way home, we saw the sign for this covered wagon. I asked everyone if they wanted to stop and check it out. They didn’t care… so 10 minutes later, we find ourselves looking at the wagon… or the damaged wagon. As stated above, it seemed to have received some storm damage and was in the process of being restored, so it was in really bad shape. But we had some fun taking goofy photos in front of it. It was muddy out, so we couldn’t explore around the area too much. I have visited Lincoln, IL a few times since this photo was taken, so next time I am down there, I hope to have new/better photos of the wagon. It really does look cool from seeing other people’s online photos.Plus, it’s a nod to Illinois and the USA’s history since it has Abraham Lincoln on it.The link to the website provided below is not to the Wagon’s actual website… because it does not have one. But I do like Atlas Obscura, so I linked to their website. That way there is some reference material if you are interested in learning more about the wagon.

Joshua Daily — Google review

Cool photo opportunity, and it's so awesome to see the size and think about it actually having to work to qualify for "world's largest". Very fun little side stop for us!

Estate grounds with a formal sculpture garden & large natural area with bike & hiking/skiing trails.

Started out as a place to explore and a year later was the most perfect place to be proposed to. This park is a great place to enjoy nature on a family walk/hike, family photo shoot or to have a special event. We love visiting this park and all it has to offer!

Bree Vargocko — Google review

Beautiful!!! We went in the fall, so we did not see the gardens in bloom, but the park is beautiful in Fall colors! This was our first time visiting and will not be our last. Walking paths around the gardens and mansion are kept up well. We did some hiking through the trails, very well maintained, and easy to navigate. The cafe was great. There are lots of options and reasonably priced. We got the pulled pork nachos special and Allerton Tea.

Stephanie Burgholzer — Google review

Outstanding experience. This was my first visit and I look forward to when the new Visitor Center opens. So excited to see the gardens in the fall and over the holidays.

Allerton Park has been a speacial place for me since my first visit in 1990. I was in high school then and my friends and I would come here to hike the trails. Since then I have made numerous visits and now that I have kids of my own I love bringing them here to enjoy this park as much as I did when I was their age. Wonderful place to spend the day and bring a picnic basket.

Doug Ernst — Google review

My parents got married here 40 years ago. It's a beautiful park! There are clean restrooms available. and a wonderful dog- friendly picnic area.

Justin Biehl — Google review

Absolutely beautiful gardens and a great learning experience. I recently took a group of scouts that needed to identify trees and various plants. With well maintained beds and clearly marked plants this was made easy. We also enjoyed a 3 mile hike. The trails are wide, well tended, and for the most part equally acceptable for all. The staff is incredibly friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. We will definitely be back for hikes.

Lara Ward — Google review

Gorgeous in the summer. The smells of different types of flowers all over made for a great experience. We saw a rabbit hiding among the bulb flowers. Kids enjoyed wandering in the hedges, looking at flowers and statues. It's a lot of walking though, so come prepared with water, good shoes, and maybe snacks.

Alan Cesar — Google review

I photograph weddings all over Illinois and Allerton Mansion is always one of my favorites. A gorgeous mansion combined with acres of beautiful photo opportunities make for a beautifully unique, one-of-a-kind wedding venue. Highly recommend.

One of the most beautiful wonders of Illinois. You feel like you've stepped out of your car and stepped into a Narnia Chronicle. Incredibly well-kept estate with bright capable and kind people. Magical.

We visited on December 1st to see the amazing Allerton Glow Festival. Certainly this was a great experience. Throughout December there will be lots of lighting here. It's very fascinating to observe this place with night lighting. I would recommend exploring Allerton Glow this month.

We visited Allerton to see the Christmas light display. It was spectacular and because we got there at sunset the crowds were not bad. By the time we left the parking lots were about full and traffic was backed up at the entry

What a great place to unwind, relax, and enjoy nature. We took the whole family. Everyone had a wonderful time. Grandparents and grandchildren had plenty of fun walking the trails and exploring together. Nice little Café on the premise. We even enjoyed live music the first night there.

Excellent library!! The librarians are always helpful and friendly. The Doris Kearns Goodwin event was fabulous! It was so well organized and her presentation was spectacular! Truly an evening to remember.

Linda Kurtz — Google review

Awesome library! Been here several times, they've got a decent book collection, a VERY nice cafe inside with very nice staff, and a good section upstairs with tables, chairs, and outlets, if you want to come here to do some work or study :)

Orion — Google review

I am a member of the Champaign Public Library. I don't owe a late fee, wasn't causing trouble, wasn't being loud, had my stuff in a corner out of the way. Looking for resources for a place to stay and cool from the heat and the manager guy walked up to me and said we can't accommodate you and you have too much luggage with you and made me leave. I thought Champaign was better than this.

Heidi Johnson — Google review

I have never lived in a town with such a dynamic library! There are writers programs, and programs to help people who want to start businesses, and they are building expanded facilities in the basem*nt for doing sound recordings...oh, yeah, and they have books. I've seen libraries that want to do away with books. Which seems dumb to me. They have a great collection of videos, too.My favorite part, though, is walking into the building. The lobby is an art gallery with a new installation of art every season. It never fails to make me smile when I walk in!

Jeanette Watts — Google review

Not sure how you could have a bad experience here! This library has always been great. Very knowledgable and friendly staff, ton of options, great movie selections, and best place to study. Definitely a gem of our town!

As a student, the staff are very rude. Sometimes when I’m inside the restroom a lady will come up and tell me to hurry up, just because im looking in the mirror. Other times when im looking at the 2$ book collection I get told to move and not stand there. The staff are very rude, and immature twords children. I dont know what made them mad but they arent the nicest twords children/teens. I get some are rude but a lot of us are nice and just want a place to study.

This library is a work of art. It has everything. Wheelchair accessibility, it’s bright and airy, two sets of bathrooms on each floor, the staff is fantastic, I have never had a problem getting anything I wanted or needed from the collection. They even have a dedicated play area for the kids, even quiet places set away for kids to independently play or read and comfortable chairs spaced out for anyone to relax and read. They have meeting rooms, computers and tablets for use, and quiet rooms.

Highly satisfied with the library and all they offer —thank you zeph for making me feel right at home!

Fantastic library, I feel like you can always find something exciting here. The children's area has a really lovely play space, with lots of cool, interactive art and toys for a variety of ages. There are comfy chairs with chargers for the guardians, and all gender restrooms with changing tables. The adult sections are well stocked, and the librarians have always been friendly and eager to help. The cafe is tiny but mighty, and has a good selection, including both snacks and sandwiches. There's lots here to discover - this is an award winning library for a reason, and there's a wealth of programs and resources to tap into, both in person and online. This is also a LGBT+ safe space. I remember the library as a magical place as a kid (let's be honest, even as an adult) and I look forward to showing my kids that.

The library is really neat! The selection is amazing too! Most staff are super nice as well! Some staff are not friendly unfortunately. Received implicit bias from them on multiple occasions and won’t be visiting anymore sadly because of them.

From a one star review:“How much did it cost to build this? Millions of dollars. How many hungry people could that had fed? How many sick could that money have healed? How many poor could that have sheltered? Think about it Christians.”Christ actually specifically rebukes this thinking when he tells Judas who has asked him why Mary Magdalene was anointing his feet with perfume with her, asking “why doesn’t she sell it to five to the poor”, but Christ discerned his heart and knew that was not why he was suggesting it, much like that is not why you are suggesting that. It’s because you don’t love the cross. Christians have thought about it. We follow our Savior

E Gleaton — Google review

All the buttons around the cross were broken, so when I brought my friend there to run around and press all the buttons at the same time we weren't able to :( the cross is a fun like 5 minute visit for pictures, but also, the fact that we're in 2022 and there's a giant cross standing over an entire city is a littttttle sus if you ask me

Kylie Lewis — Google review

Nice private roadside stop. Free to visit. The cross has pathways around it with statues and the 10 commandments. The adjoining welcome center has restrooms and a private chapel, but not much mote than that.

Jay Biddle — Google review

First time there other than just a drive by. It's a shame they taken out the walk way of remembered ppl and the ppl that have donated.othwr wise a nice and peaceful place.building was closed at time I was there.

Frank Findlay — Google review

I did not plan on visiting the cross nor did I know it existed before driving through Effingham on my way to St Louis and honestly I think it's ridiculous is this what Christianity has become making a giant crosses. Is this really the best use of space and money i don't think so. I do not think that I will be coming back to see this and that's for some reason I'm driving through Effingham again.

Jack Cairborne — Google review

Cross is big and nice to click some picks,But thats it nothing else to do nearby.Still good stop for picks

Lomesh Dhoke — Google review

Very impressive cross. I was traveling back from Huston TX to Indiana and saw this cross. So we had to pull over and check it out.

Erik Swartz — Google review

We stopped they were closed. Could not get in to watch video they show to folks. We did however get to walk around and see things outside. Differently a great cross to see. If your in the area worth your time to stop. Figure of Jesus and two children is beautiful. Grounds well kept and plants are nice. Walks to get around. I'm hoping on my way east I can stop in.

Linda Beck — Google review

Beautiful day over here at The Cross, this cross you can see it from the highway and we stopped to see it, and when we saw it; it’s a beautiful and around it has the 10 commandments God gave to Moses, very beautiful and inside there is a 8 minutes video and also free coffee and restroom as well. It’s optional if you want to give a donation.

Carla Perdomo — Google review

Lovely experience. I’ve been past dozens of times but this trip it worked out to visit.

Susan Beldyga — Google review

Very cool place to go. I can't wait till they finish the rest of the area around the Cross. We weren't able to go into the shop that is there because it was closed. It was definitely a cool thing to see.

Michael Belford — Google review

It's beautiful to see , what the cross represents. To all the haters of the cross, Jesus hung on the cross that you might have life, His blood shed for your forgiveness that none of us deserved, when in your end, lying there waiting for someone to carry you away, think on what Jesus did for you, your sins can still be forgiven.

User User — Google review

Larger than the cross in Groom Texas that is 190 feet tall on Interstate 40, this is truly the Largest Cross at 195 feet. The land here isn't as flat as it is in Texas, so you don't have 20 miles of driving up to it to have some building Cross tension. This cross is at the intersection of the two major highways, Interstate 70 (between Indianapolis and Saint Louis) and Interstate 57 (between Champaign and Sikeston). It is only visible from the near vicinity and it is accessed through an industrial office park with good signage. At the base of the cross is a gravel parking lot that is big enough for the largest of vehicles. There are plaques for each of the Ten Commandments and a donation box next to the visitor's center.Interesting? Yes. Detour? Maybe not.

Bruce K. — Google review

There's a short walking trail with a few statues and small gardens around the 198 foor tall cross. The building closes at 4pm not 7 during the fall and winter. If you can go inside there's a short video you could watch about the construction of the cross.

The World's Largest Rocking Chair is a massive tourist attraction, weighing over 46,000 pounds and taking more than 2 years to build. It actually rocks and is surrounded by walkways and flower gardens. While it draws in tourists, the businesses around it need to be open in order to capitalize on the influx of visitors. Unfortunately, many restaurants, cafes, and stores were closed on a Sunday afternoon.

Huge!! Amazing!! This is undoubtedly a massive rocking chair. Really pretty with the walkways and flowers around it. Within walking distance of many others and provides a nice break to get out and move around on a road trip. We had so much fun finding this one and the others.

Lindsay Sondelski — Google review

If you are near Casey, IL -- stop. What started out as a few large items to try and revitalize the city has turned into (currently) large 19 items around town. It's almost like a scavenger hunt. It's a fun break from a long drive!

Ml Walden — Google review

Quaint little town. Quick detour off the freeway for some pictures. Unless you plan to stop and eat here, you can be done in under 20 min. Not much to do other than eat and take pictures. There's one main street and it takes you back to the freeway.

Jimmy Zahoor — Google review

There are a lot of world's largest objects in this town. I found the rocking chair to be the most impressive. It seems like a good idea to draw in tourists, but to capitalize on the tourists the restaurants, cafes and stores need to be open. Unfortunately, most of then were closed in the early afternoon on a Sunday. Whats up with that?

Dr. William Starsiak — Google review

Casey IL is the best Roadside Attraction we have ever encountered. It gets you out, walking around and meeting some of the friendliest people. Everywhere we went people waved like they knew us, smiled and wished us a “good day”. I would make the drive to Casey IL again just to finish searching for all the Worlds Largest and Biggest items around town.

gloria mcbeth — Google review

Casey IL where all things are made new. This town has really become a little gem in a largely rural area.Local business supporting the economy by improving a small town really makes a difference for this area.I grew up near here and didn't know it had become so welcoming to travelers.

Jana Hanagan — Google review

Pretty cool to see. Nothing super special, but the little town of Casey was a fun stop along the way for a stretch and some unique sights.

Robert Mace — Google review

Casey, Illinois is a beautiful little town with big things! Awesome. Highly recommend

J C — Google review

Casey bills themselves as a "Small Town, Big Things" and they're not kidding. Located just off I-70 and even if you don't want to see some of the further away Largest Things, the World's Largest Rocking Chair is in downtown and surrounded by Largest things,There is parking nearby and you can walk around to see the stuff. One of which is, yes, the World's Largest Rocking Chair. Sadly you can't sit in it but you can take pictures with it and even touch it.I found this one to be one of the most interesting World's Largest things, right up with the mailbox that you can go inside and the wind chimes that you can sound. Stop by and check them out.

Bruce K. — Google review

A fun and kitschy town right off the interstate. Lots of "world's largest" items throughout town. We came on a Sunday unfortunately and most local business were closed. It was still fun for our kids to look at all the big things. Favorites included the rocking chair and mailbox. If you go during the week, there is a working giant teeter totter and supposedly a great ice cream shop.

Derek Hyland — Google review

Casey is an awsome place to take the kids and wonder about searching for all the big things. We took a 3 1/2 hour drive with our granddaughter of 12 to visit the town. Great place to see. Really big stuff. We picked up z map at the gas station and 3 hours later saw some pretty cool stuff. Simply amazing. The mail box was awsome, as were all the other attractions. Even hot dome candy and ice cream to snack on. Bring your walking shoes plenty to see. Plenty of parking. All sites are handicapped friendly, so is parking. Loved this place. Also they have public restrooms by the mailbox. Handicapped friendly also. Very clean.

Anthony Smith — Google review

When my cousin in Effingham suggested that we make a trip up to Casey to see the "Big stuff" I wasn't really sure what she meant. Anyway, on getting to this small town it became obvious. There is "Big stuff" everywhere. This was apparently the world's largest rocking chair. All good.

Ian Knights — Google review

Super cool to see. Park on Main Street and walk around town to see lots of World's Largest Things!!! The landscape around the town is very nice and enjoyable!

Laura Borchert — Google review

Fun, fun ,fun, fun, fun. Did I say it was FUN? This town has done it right!Since the main route of traffic was diverted to a new freeway years ago, the town began to lose business.Somewhere along the way, someone built the World's Largest Rocking Chair to attract tourists. It worked. Other town businesses joined the bandwagon. The fun part is driving through the town looking for "The World's Largest ______".We saw the WL Wind Chime, Key, Taco, #2 Pencil, Barber Pole, Bird Cage, Antlers, and even an adorable Purple house. We didn't find the WL mailbox, though. We will just have to come back. Did I mention it was Fun? Come and "find" out yourself.

Theresa Roman — Google review

I visit both largest rocking chair. Number one largest in Casey and second Cuba Missouri . I like Casey's,well maintained rocking chair and surrounding areas.

Robby Chiramel — Google review

In Casey, Illinois, visitors can marvel at the World's Largest Wind Chime, a towering structure assembled from five metal tubes with the longest chime measuring 42 feet long. The working chime encourages visitors to ring it and features religious symbols as a reminder of the importance of faith in daily life.

I love wind chimes, so this one was especially exciting to find, and it's interactive! Its set in a pretty garden area, outside a Cafe. You can go into the garden and pull the cord to make it chime. So fun! Another fun roadside attraction that we loved in this little town while passing through.

Lindsay Sondelski — Google review

What a great little surprise Casey Illinois. I had never been in the area. We were passing through and someone told us we needed to come here. We're glad we did. What a beautiful little town. We love exploring small American towns and sharing it on our YouTube channel (adventuresoversover50) we see so many little towns that are dying it was nice to see what one man's Vision could do for a tiny town. Small town pride is obvious here. Beautiful gardens and well manicured lawns.

TerryLynn Melody — Google review

I love this so much. I love wind chimes. This one is the World's largest wind Chime. Certified by the Guinness Book Of World Records. You can pull the rope to make it chime. Check out the pictures.

INDIANA JONES — Google review

Come to Casey and see the World's Largest Things. They're all over town and it's only a couple of miles off I-70 as you're passing between Terre Haute and Saint Louis. On the the big ones in the downtown core is this, the World's Largest Wind Chime. It is accessed through the patio area of what looks like a cute restaurant, Whitling Whimsy Cafe, which was closed on Sunday when I was here. In fact, most of the town was closed on Sunday. Still, the Things are accessible. The Wind Chime is certified by the Guinness Book of World Records and are 49 feet tall with the largest chime being 42 feet long. There is a center rope pull so that you can make the chimes sound if it's not a windy day. I like that this one is interactive.

Bruce K. — Google review

Located in a very beautiful small town full of photo worthy oddities. Wind chime actually works, you can walk up and pull a cord to hear it in action. Right across the street from the world's largest rocking chair, so be sure to bring your camera! If you have time to stroll down the street there are lots unique attractions that are definitely worth seeing. Family friendly activities all along the street, so bring the kids!

Leslie Mason — Google review

What a cool attraction. It's totally free. The town is full of the 'World's Largest' items and this was the one I first heard about. It is attached to a cafe where you can buy a map of the attractions. The windchime is interactive so go ahead and give it a pull. It is great for the whole family and pet friendly.

Angela Julian — Google review

Usually they blow free in the wind, but this one is a little heavy and requires some visiting help! Walk on over and give it a tug!

Dede King — Google review

Awesome place, there's lots more large things to see around as well

Camo FPV Reviews — Google review

Yet another "big thing" in this crazy, sleepy, little town. We didn't here it making much noise, but then again, if it did start ringing in a gale it might be quite loud...

Ian Knights — Google review

Coolest town ever!! the Wind chimes were a real treat. Very few visiting on the Sunday we stopped in! Beautiful setting, well kept grounds and gorgeous landscaping! The mailbox was really amazing and they even have a mail slot for you to mail letters!! We drove here to see the rocking chair and were pleasantly surprised to see the multiple large and quirky items! Highly recommend for a unique road side stop!!

Cecilee Shull — Google review

This is a nice little town full of the largest things lol. We were on a 8 hour road trip and it was a nice place to stop and walk around town and grab a bite

Larry Veal — Google review

Hard to believe that something this large is truly a working object, but these wind chimes really work! They are a sight to be seen!

A Smith — Google review

The town of Casey Illinois is probably the cutest town you can ever visit. Especially during the holidays. They go all out and hold true to traditions older than most peoples great grandparents. The coolest part of Casey is the fact that they hold the record for having the most largest items in one town. Some include largest lead pencil, largest knitting needle, ect. Give it a visit. It will not disappoint.

letroy higgins — Google review

It was fun checking out all the BIG THINGS in this small town. I brought 2 kids along and they had a blast hunting the various big objects and running from one to the next. While walking the local postman directed us to one of the objects we had trouble locating, & two friendly locals gave us directions. It's free to walk down the street & look at the objects. The giant mailbox was awesome, the kids loved going up into it and looking out.See if you can find the cactus, bikes, minion, and chairs made of twigs! The big yardstick and big pencil were cool as well.

Nature & Parks

Great place for families to enjoy. Would recommend anyone in the area to enjoy. Clean and well kept. A nice gem to spend some time.

Anthony Ortiz — Google review

Found this park on the way to Giant City State Park. Knew it was a park my grandchildren would love. I was right! Visited with the grands and had a wonderful time. It's free, but they do take donations. It's privately owned, so anything will help. If you're thinking about visiting, you won't be disappointed!

Jeri/Gerry Eslow — Google review

We were here for the eclipse in 2024, and I can't say enough good things about this park. We were here from about 8:30 am to 3 pm, and even after the eclipse was over we still had to pry the kids away from the park they'd been enjoying all day. The 2yo kept going back into the castle, and even the 11yo said he was still getting lost in it and finding secret passages. A fence encloses the park, though be aware there are 2 open gates on opposite sides. The only restrooms are port a potties, but they were cleaned and well-maintained. Though the castle is not handicap accessible, a disabled parent can easily come into the park and watch their kids play. The giant sleeping dragon was also a huge hit. Thank you so much for this amazing place!

Bill Miller — Google review

I think what this family has done to honor their child is spectacular! This park is such a cool place for children and D&D fans to visit. I don't know how the game is played but there are many characters set up throughout the park. The adult size castle fort is much larger than we thought it would be. It's a great place to check out if you're in the area. They have a donation box there so try to take some cash with you to drop in.

Jennifer A — Google review

Great park. Kids love it. Even friends from Chicago wish they lived closer so they could bring their children there.

Roy Aldworth — Google review

Very cool attraction! Definitely recommend whether you are a DnD fan or not. There are so many things to see that even when you think you've seen it all in an area I'll bet there is something in a nook or cranny you missed. Definitely recommend for kids of all ages.

Jacob Mounts — Google review

One of the most beautiful and iconic parks I've ever seen. I used to come here several years ago just to take pictures, and this time I got to bring my own child to enjoy the magic with me.

Ariel Jones — Google review

A hidden gem!! No clue this place existed until my gps took me the back roads to carbondale. I love the story behind it, a lovely memorial park. It looks straight out of a kids book, will be going back

Abigail Matney — Google review

I absolutely love this place and so do my kids. really enjoy the atmosphere and style of the park. Thank you so much for the safe place to play!

Austin Tausinger — Google review

Unreal...coolest playground ever! Castles, wizards and dragons, oh my! They even sell t-shirts the place rocks. Check it out, especially if you dig the medieval vibe.

Bethany Mitzel — Google review

Such a nice park for kids and adults alike! Father built park in honor of his beloved son Jeremy! Castle is a maze of angles, stairs, and rope/plank bridge with lots of friendly medieval character statues!

Susie Dalton — Google review

What a great place! The castle was fun to wander in, even as an adult. The sculptures are all very interesting. Love that it is free! They also have shirts for sale! The office is across the street in a large 2+ story house

Rachel Newquist — Google review

This park is a must see if you’re in the area with kids or you just love fantasy and mythic creatures.

Saint Rube — Google review

Grown ups will enjoy as much as children when you explore the hidden gem of a park dedicated to the memory of the owners son who tragically died in an accident. Boo loved Dungeons and Dragons and his father and friends transformed this magical park into a castle and grounds where dragons and wizards roam. Trap doors await with hidden passages to open up in a different room in the castle. Beautiful flower beds surrounding metal sculptures of winged creatures. We visit a couple times a year and find new things that we have never seen. Bring your kids and try keeping up with them as they wonder in amazement. What an incredible place.

Roger Moredock — Google review

Great place to take the kids! The castle playground is so much fun and the dragon statues really make it unique. The kids are already begging to go back!

Casino

Casinos & Gambling

Century Casino Cape Girardeau is a modern gambling establishment that offers over 900 slot machines, a variety of table games and five chic dining options. The staff is friendly and helpful, providing guidance to newcomers who may be unfamiliar with the gambling experience. Visitors can enjoy the exciting atmosphere and try their luck at winning big. It's worth giving it a shot as one never knows what fortune might bring.

First time there and I really enjoyed myself, spent 20 and came home with little over 200, probably first time luck! I haven’t been to a casino in years but it was a great time! I would recommend atleast trying your luck! You never know

Ann Chamberlain — Google review

We very much enjoyed the Casino, and affordable place to eat. Had a great time playing the slots, staff was very friendly, very clean machines, and nice bathrooms! We went 2 nights because we had so much fun! They need more handicapped parking closer to the entrance however. We highly recommend going there! Next time we go we may stay at their hotel.

Jodie Allen — Google review

The casino has changed ownership so much. They've stopped announcing jackpots, not thrilled over that. The promotions have been reduced drastically. I will say, the partnership they have with the local hotels are nice. Our stay at pear tree Inn was awesome !!!::

I'm not a gambler, but I wanted to try it out. I was not disappointed. When I stopped to get my card when I got there, the lady was very pleasant and walked me through everything pertinent when I told I had never gambled anywhere like this before. The young man at the bar was very helpful about showing me how to use the machines there at the bar. The whole place and experience was really cool. And it doesn't hurt that I came out ahead!

New to blackjack. Dealers were helpful. Miss Kayla was outstanding....She was very well versed in all the table games, was incredibly hospitable yet professional. She even advised us on how to play individual hands when asked. Incredibly charming....delightful person...the captain and I broke even, but left feeling like winners...Thank you Kayla...We'll be back!

David Arends — Google review

Lots of slot machines with a good variety of games. You win some and lose some! Hopefully today’s donation will keep the lights on for a little while ;) short drive to cape from south East Missouri. Friendly staff. A new hotel is being built on site. Looks to be 6 stories high.

Scott Schaefer — Google review

The only reason I am giving four stars is because a lot of the games were down when I came in. And only one ATM was working. Other than that, the other few times I’ve been in it was a lot of fun! The staff are always sweet. I came in for my birthday and everyone was happy!

Angel — Google review

This was my second time dining at this restaurant. The first was hands down 5 stars all around. I was not impressed on my most recent visit. The wedge salad was mostly the worst part of the lettuce and not enough blue cheese dressing. The bacon was cold and burnt. Shrimp was good, but the sauce was so rich I couldn't finish it.

Update.. Valentines day 2024.. i had an amazing filet, cooked to perfection. My husband had the Trout. We both truly enjoyed our meal. This time, the Chefs wife spent some time with us. She is very friendly and i enjoyed talking with her. We had truffles for dessert.. mouth watering.(2023)We went to the Beacon 53 restaurant for an early Valentines Day dinner. The food was superb and the atmosphere was excellent. We truly enjoyed our experience. Chef Robert came out to talk to us. He told me how to make the fruit tart that i found so delicious. . Our waiter was perfect. He was very attentive and helpful. It was a bit expensive, but we were expecting it to be. It was the best dinner we have had in a very long time.

5 Stars all around!Just recently moved to the area and had never been to a Casino before. Doing something for the first time can be intimidating, but Century made it a fun and exceptional experience. The slots are varied and enjoyable, but the table games are where this place shines. While the number is limited, the staff are the highlight. Austin and Janice were very polite and patient with me. They helped me figure out 3 card Poker enough that I played a few hands and walked out with some money. I will definitely be back.An extra shout out to the ladies at the Winner's Circle as well. They do a great job explaining the rewards program and answering any questions you may have. If you are ever in Cape Girardeau and want to have a good time, definitely check out Century Casino. You will not be disappointed.

Museums

The National Quilt Museum is a remarkable exhibition space that showcases an extensive collection of quilting and textile arts. The museum offers rotating exhibits, workshops and features beautiful creations with bright colors and intricate details. Visitors can admire the creativity in each quilt, including a wooden one displayed in a separate room. Even if you are not particularly interested in quilting or textiles, this art gallery is worth checking out as it presents stunning works of art that will leave you fascinated.

Wonderful museum. Admission price is reasonable and there are some stunning works of quilted art to be seen. The studio space is well organized and thoughtfully filled. Gift shop has a few great finds.

Sarah Hartman — Google review

It was just okay. I was kind of disappointed because I was expecting older quilts and some frames of older times to be on display. The oldest quilt dated back to 1980. They were more modern. Sewn with sewing machines, which is still a lot of work, but I look at a National Museum as having really old artifacts. Hand seen quilts along side of the newer ones. Frames that were used in my grandmothers and great grandmother's times and beyond. Things like that. Pictures from those eras. There were some nice quilts there. There was a Shakespeare section on display. I did like some of those as I do like some Shakespeare.

Vicki Johnson — Google review

What an amazing place to see the craftsmanship of quilters. Some of the quilts were like paintings and each had a big story behind it. Absolutely loved the museum and displays Actually we went there an hour early and the staff was so courteous and let us in early. So very accommodating. A must see in Kentucky

rakshi hanbal — Google review

Kentucky hospitality! The staff is so helpful! Wonderful environment. Beautiful selection of quilts displayed. Seating around the gallery for enjoyment amplified. Clean bathrooms, lovely grounds. Diverse selection available in gift shop.

Lucinda Williams — Google review

Great place to visit even if quilting isn't your thing! This was actually my husband's idea because he had seen the sign for it as we were driving! When I looked up pictures it looked really neat so we made time to check it out! We are so glad we stopped because it was amazing! Lots of beautiful creations and bright colors! If you enjoy art in general, this is a great place to check out. We were in awe at the fine details and creativity in each quilt. They even had one made from wood in a seperate room! Very fascinating! They let you take pictures, just no flash photography!

Angela Schoger — Google review

Great exhibits with a fantastic staff. My wife and I love quilts and really enjoyed the museum. These quilts are from the late 1980's up.

Mark Bain — Google review

I was expecting lots of bed quilts but was pleasantly surprised to see many works of art quilted. Stunning detail. If you scan the code below a short description, you’ll find more details.

Cindy Souser — Google review

It was very neat to see all the different styles and types of quilting. I never knew so much of this. And they had a special exhibit by Dr. Karen Nyberg, noted astronaut. I was impressed by the depth and breadth though admittedly I would have liked more historical quilts. Admission prices are fair for a museum. Would recommend.

Christo S — Google review

Daniel Randolph — Google review

Great museum with a wide variety of styles of quilts. Traditional, contemporary and just special!Worth the time and money!

Tom Pohlman — Google review

The museum was filled with amazing quilt pieces with a variety of subjects and displaying many different techniques. It is visually appealing enough to keep our six year old engaged while we wandered the exhibitions.

L Zipperer — Google review

I happened on the museum on the day of the total eclipse and they were hosting people on their lawn to view it. Their staff was enthusiastic to tell me about the museum, encouraged me to walk around, and shared some of their own passions with me. Everyone here was awesome. I loved hearing other crafty people talk about the techniques they noticed used in the various works, which were very impressive. I'll be back!

zrrob — Google review

Amazing skill and artistry on rotating displays. Quilts are on caliber of a fine art museum. To fully appreciate plan to spend several hours. We have visited twice now and plan to make this a regular inclusion when passing thru KY. Not just for quilters!

The Paducah Wall to Wall is a notable historical landmark that showcases the town's rich heritage during the Atomic Age era. The murals are exquisitely crafted and depict various aspects of Paducah's history. Visitors can enjoy an evening stroll while viewing the colorful mural paintings, including a full-sized stream engine. The area surrounding it is well-maintained with benches that provide views of the river, where a riverboat can also be found docked at times.

We enjoyed walking along the wall, seeing the numerous beautifully painted murals and learning the history of the town from the placards. Also, the river valley is gorgeous too.

Great for an evening stroll!Beautifully created murals depicting the history and heritage of Paducah KY. My wife and I stopped and viewed several of the murals and enjoyed views of the river. A full size stream engine is here as well. There were areas to sit and benches in the river side, many folks enjoying the serving relaxing. Lovely place, well kept and clean. A river boat was docked when we were there!

Brice Willson — Google review

I think there are 40 + murals approximately twelve feet high by 20 ft long. Absolutely amazing the amount of time and effort that went into creating all these different historic scenarios! Right on the river and the murals are actually on front flood protection concrete walls.

The Historic Riverfront is a lively and significant area situated along the river, showcasing a striking mural-covered floodwall and breathtaking water views. This location has numerous historical markers on the riverside and Floodwall Murals on the opposite side of the floodwalls. It features a shaded, riverfront park where one can watch large river cruise vessels sail past or load off/on passengers.

Wow, some pretty large river cruise vessels do a port of call here. This is a great, shaded, riverfront park where you can watch the ships sail past or load off/on cruise passengers. Easy access from downtown area of Paducah. We had a pleasant walk along river from Quilt Museum to the downtown area cafes.

Mike Patton — Google review

This is a beautiful area of New Orleans. You can walk a substantial part of the riverfront. There are the cruise ships and there are shops and dining along the way.

Jennifer Brugh — Google review

Went there with my brother abs friend and had so much fun! So pretty and the art on the wall was so gorgeous! If you're nearby it's definitely worth a walk and visit!!

Sabrina LaChay — Google review

Love love this place! We had so much fun looking at the beautiful paintings and learning about some history of the beautiful town of Paducah. Highly recommend!!!

Joanna Lapp — Google review

I have slowly made my way up from the south on the American queen and I always stop to see the art work along the way. It’s interesting to see history and learn about it. So if your here stop and look. There’s more further south on the river also

Penny Speich — Google review

Waterfront park in Paducah that offers great views of the Ohio river. Access is easy and there are some seating and parking areas.

Sarah Hartman — Google review

On a pretty day, this is a great spot to sit on a park bench or picnic table and have lunch and enjoy the view. Two of the United State's most important rivers meet here. The Tennessee flows in to the Ohio right in view.

Brandon Doom — Google review

Great area of our country. Largest confluence of fresh water in the world. We're blessed!

Marlen Wood — Google review

This was really interesting to see. Especially since two boats were in dock that day. The town was interesting to as it is historical.

Julia Barr — Google review

Nice spot to take in the river and get some good photos. It adds a nice element to walking around town. More information about the venue and events would be great. Bulletin boards? QR codes?

Beautiful view of the river! I first went on a Sunday night. There were so many people sitting there, that we were expecting that there was going to be a Fireworks show or show of some kind. Turns out that this is just a local hangout. But again, what a beautiful view!! You can see historical markers on the riverside and the Floodwall Murals on the opposite side of the floodwalls.

Linda H. — Google review

Enjoyed seeing and reading the story of each mural. We had a nice walk here after the eclipse.

Casey Jones moonshine & bourbon, a true family tradition! The most informative distillery tour I've ever been on. $10 for the tour, $5 for a tasting of your choice of 10 samples. Nice gift shop + a bar. Kids & pets welcome.

Jennilyn Brown — Google review

Great tour and a great back story. Everyone seems to enjoy what they do. Grounds are really pretty. Small distillery with some pretty tasty moonshine.

Dawn Rodgers — Google review

Did the state line trail and visited three distilleries. Casey Jones was our last and best stop! Our tour guide, Heather was amazing & provided a great amount of information while keeping the group laughing and entertained. After the tour we sat by the water and enjoyed some co*cktails. Definitely will be returning!

Kegan Hollerbach — Google review

A great stop for bourbon and shopping. We were heading home from Nashville and made a short stop here after seeing the sign on the interstate. We were so glad we did. It’s a beautiful distillery with knowledgeable staff and a large selection of bourbon. There is also a food truck with a good selection of BBQ. We did not have time to do a tour or tasting, hopefully next time we pass through we can take a tour.

Heather Squire — Google review

What a great little place. Everyone is so friendly and both the tour and the history of the place is wonderful. Must see if in the area.

Dave W. — Google review

Stopped in on a late Wednesday afternoon for a tasting. Was greeted by staff who were very friendly. I decided to just do a tasting but not the tour as we were at the end of a long day. 10 tastings were just $3! I had a variety of their shine and bourbon. All were very tasty. I did a little shopping and was happy to learn that they offer a Military/Veteran discount as I am an Army Vet. Stop by for a great experience, you will not regret it!

Brian Bownds — Google review

My favorite of the three distilleries that we toured this weekend. Beautiful place where we felt welcomed. The staff, including the founder and owner himself, were beyond friendly and knowledgeable. You were definitely made to feel at home. Their product and knowledge of it were spot on!

Rebecca White — Google review

Such a great experience. We did tasting as well as the tour. Having the option to choose subset of products you want to try is a great idea as we have different taste with my wife. The accompanying explanation of the individual items is straight to the point and will make it easy for you to decide what you want to buy (and you will want to buy something :)I was absolutely stunned by the history of the distillery and its founder. It would be a great movie for sure. We saw the entire process and received a great deal of details on every single step.Gift shop has a lot of items to choose from.Great people and place, highly recommend.

Tom?? Greif — Google review

Really enjoyed visiting. Such a beautiful place and welcoming environment. Our guide Heather told us all about the spirits in great detail, plus the story of each one. The tour was amazing as well. So much information on how everything started in the beginning to where they are now. Definitely worth the visit they had a band, bar, and food truck that night. Something for the whole family to enjoy. Heather was awesome at her job!

Tyler — Google review

Great Distillery to visit with beautiful views. This place is spread out nice and sectioned off with the bar area and tshirts on one side, and eating with tables on the other side. In the back of the building is open area overlooking the water where they have live music. Our experience was really good when we visited, the staff were great. They were very helpful, extremely nice, and informative. The location of Casey Jones Distillery is a little off the beaten path but not difficult to find. It's in the perfect location if you were looking for somewhere to have an event/wedding/reception, etc, with absolutely beautiful views. Casey Jones Distillery is definitely worth visiting!

Tammy Sablone — Google review

Beautiful place, amazing and informative tour, and the tasting selection.. Just amazing. Can very much recommend, and I've done a bunch of distillery tours. The staff was eager to answer questions, knowledgeable, and a delight to interact with. Tons of history, stories, and old charm.Definitely make this a stop on your long strange trip.

Nick Machan — Google review

My wife and I discovered this distillery just last week and decided to book a tour. I'm so glad we did it is a great unique story of the history and pride taken by a family making some excellent bourbon, moonshine, and rye. I apologize. I didn't get the lady's name who conducted our tour, but she did an excellent job. They are Kentucky proud using and employing Kentucky products and resources. A must visit on the bourbon tour. We will certainly return.

Jeffery Jenkins — Google review

Great tour and tasting on a random Tuesday afternoon. All the recent renovations make this [relatively] fledgling distillery legit. Captivating stories, engaging memorabilia, historic photos and pretty good juice!! And apparently they're not even done with the renovations. Had a nice long conversation with Peg afterwards, and AJ autographed out bottles.

Joseph Pable — Google review

Stopped in for a tasting with my wife while in Hopkinsville. Very pleasant experience with the tasting. The owners came by and greeted us. Definitely recommend. Dog friendly.

Scott Terry — Google review

Great spot to stop on the Bourbon Trail or if you have an RV you can camp there via Harvest Host. They had over 20 offerings for the tasting, you get to pick 10. The two of us did 10 different so we got to try all 20. They’ve got a bar if you want to have additional drinks, an outdoor patio and meticulously cared for grounds with a small lake out back.

Bryan Lilley — Google review

This was a fun place to visit. We stopped after we visited grandma in Tennessee. Dad liked tasting the stuff and the little tour was cool. It really tuckered me out. So dad bought a sweatshirt and got me all cozy for more driving.

Civil War site with an old fort & artillery, a soldier cemetery & riverside battlegrounds.

Beautiful and perfectly re-creation of the fortifications. The view is spectacular. After visiting numerous other battlefields, this may be my favorite of them all. You can feel the battle going on as the ships come up the river and the Rebels hold them off with their cannons. This fortress makes you want to be a kid again.

Missouri Born — Google review

Had an awesome experience visiting this National Battlefield. The rangers were very helpful and provided me with plenty of maps and info to complete some hiking trails and self-guided audio tours. The signage throughout the Battlefield was well laid-out and easy to find on the map. This is important because there are sites located throughout the town of Dover; not just within the park.It was so cool to be able to walk through and picture the history that took place here. Having accounts of those who served during the conflict was extremely valuable and sobering. One thing that surprised me was seeing a Confederate monument for the first time in my life. Once you do some reading of the provided info packet and the associated signs at the site, you begin to understand its importance. The soldiers of the Confederate Army were often buried where they fell and/or placed in unmarked mass graves nearby. This monument stands as the sole marker in recognition of their memory. War hurt a lot of people on both sides and it's important to have an open mind in order to understand our history in its full narrative.

Nick Ligon — Google review

Beautiful and well-preserved battlefield. The park rangers are very nice and helpful. Great trail system if you want to hike through the park and easy signage if you want to drive it. Amazing views of the Cumberland River.

Jeremy Davis — Google review

I stopped by here on my quedt to get a junior ranger badge for every national park, historic site, or natural place. The visitors center is still umder construction so the rangers are in a trailer. There is a 20 min movie about the fort and the leaders involved. This was Grants first victory mainly due to the bad choices the confederate generals made.

I love this spot. The history lesson is a Must & the hiking is beautiful. Lots of wildlife to be seen also, for example Eagles 🦅 😆. My fave! This a great, free spot to get some fresh air & sightsee.

Lindsey Loo — Google review

We have found a place we love to come. We are returning with garbage bags because of all the garbage on the bank. I have updated photos since first visit to show there is going to be a tremendous tall weed problem if someone does not maintain it . We pulled many weeds to make a path to water. We have loved our time here but it will need maintenance. For now we are happy to pick up garbage and play and read there. Bathroom was immaculate with working faucets, soap, toilet seat protectors and paper towels. There was also heat . The garbage and recycling bins were locked preventing use

Aspire — Google review

Very well displayed. Some signs show aging but are still readable. Lots of visuals to walk around and see. Deffinetly worth visiting. The lady at tge information center was great. She gave me lots of information and answered lots of questions.

TheRed BridgeFarm — Google review

We drove far for this national Battlefield and we really enjoyed it a lot as it has a self driving tour that has stops all around the park like in many battlefield tours! The views from above the river is the highlight but you’ll definitely learn a lot after seeing and reading all about it! Don’t forget to bring your national parks stamp book here as they have 5 stamps!

Daniel Duran — Google review

Amazing! The telephone tour was worth it. The battlements on the riverside of the fort really give you a feel for the historic events that took place there.

Vince Hart — Google review

Nice educational park, overlook of Cumberland River. Canon's line the river, pretty view. Education plaques to read. Limited parking, not handicap accessible. Walking is hilly, unstable for those with balance instability.

Amy Christle — Google review

As a person who loves history, this was a great place to visit. It has such a cool story, one that actually helped shape America more than I ever thought. It has several awesome views of the Cumberland River with replicas of the cannons that once protected it. The road/trail is marked well with directions on where to stop. The stops have good descriptions of what happened at each place and its significance. Some of the information boards at the stops have been weathered and damaged and need replacement. The visitor center was in the process of being remodeled. I can't wait to see how it turns out. There are several other must-see places related to this park to stop at that are scattered around Dover. All in all, a beautiful National Battlefield with a great story.

Joseph Peyton — Google review

This is a spectacular place to visit. The history, and the views!

Cindy Reighard — Google review

Totally enjoyed our visit. The video at the visitor's center is a must before taking a look. The numbered locations and audio from the website are a great help as you tour this location. We were there for at least 3 hours taking it all in and had to abruptly leave due to illness. We plan to go back soon to finish where we left off.

Kathy — Google review

Love visiting this place. We did the driving tour thru all the locations. It will take a couple of hours to see everything. The visitors center is in a temporary building but still worth a stop. Anytime you can visit a historic site do it. Always something new to learn.

Tony Hinson — Google review

We enjoyed our visit and tour of Fort Donelson Nat'l Battlefield. We started at the Visitor information Center. (They are renovating their headquarters, so follow the signs to a trailer.) Very well informed staff will answer any questions you have, give you a detailed map to follow. There is a recorded explanation of each of the 11 stops via your phone. Made it more interesting. Be sure to view the video at the hotel. The sacrifice of the soldiers reminds us of the freedoms we take for granted today that have come about because of these soldiers giving their very lives so we can be free. Let us never ever forget that freedom isn't free.

Dairy farm

The restaurant Chaney's Dairy Barn is a farm that offers self-guided tours and events including activities for children. You can enjoy homemade ice cream, sandwiches, burgers and more while visiting the bucolic South Central Kentucky farmland.

The ice cream is really awesome here. We enjoy eating ice cream in the play area with the grand kids. Though this is little away from the city, it is worth driving here and enjoy in the open countryside environment. They also host many events for kids and families. We had seen one movie also in the open air, after it gets dark. We are one of their regulars. We come with our guests here and everyone likes a unique experience.

Ashok Patel — Google review

Absolutely love this place. It has a great vibe all the way around. They serve lunch including hamburgers, hot dogs, sandwiches, chicken sandwiches, and a variety of other items. Plenty of places to sit with an upstairs and downstairs as well as an outdoor area. It seems you are encouraged to walk around the property and enjoy. The ice cream is fantastic. Our group all tried something different and they were all amazing. Love the kids area. Huge slides, swings and things to climb on with a barn that overlooks it so you can stay in the shade while you watch your little ones. We'll be back.

Doug Austin — Google review

Stopped here because of the reviews. Grill food was okay. They can’t accommodate allergies. Ordered meals and they just went back and took off the items instead of remaking them without. Ice cream was good. Chocolate milk was worth the stop. They have a playground for kids. Nice place to stop for ice cream and let kids play.

Stacey — Google review

I Love coming here. They have a fun little gift shop and the ice cream is so well priced and good! Food is also decent. Love that you can visit the cows and that they have a playground outside for the kids to enjoy. All I wish is there was an area more towards the smaller kids to enjoy but aside from that this place is great.

Raina Romano — Google review

Unique local restaurant that was recommended to us by a local person. If your in the area and would like to try something other than main stream establishments go here. Our food was great as was the service. We noticed an ice cream counter that was very busy. This is a walk up counter order and find your own table type of place.

Wayne Maier — Google review

A small group of our family motorcyled the morning away and felt like ice cream. We found Chaney's and the homemade ice cream was awesome. They have meals as well. Our 2 grandsons enjoyed the children's large play area . It's a great place for a burger or ice cream. Affordable,Cleanly, good seating,Clean bathrooms and a friendly helpful staff. Can't beat it!!!

Great ice cream!!!! We were not hungry enough for lunch/dinner but that menu looks amazing!!

We always stop at Chaney's every time we are in the area. We tried the carrot cake in waffle cake for the first time. Delicious!! The ice cream tastes like butter cream icing with chunks of carrot cake. Definitely must try it for yourself.

Great place and the ice cream... DELICIOUS! Have been twice while here and both visits were outstanding! Great playground for the kid's, excellent service, very friendly staff, gets an A++ from me!

Great place to see the cows and how the farm works! The food and ice cream and milk and cheese were delicious !! Informative too!!

Popped in on a Monday night in the summer, and apparently, it was free scoop night. Line was very long but moved fast and when our ice cream was free it made it all worth it! Staff was very nice and place has cool homey items for sale. Playground was very busy with families and the jumping pad thing looked cool. Definitely worth the stop..oh yeah and my ice cream was super decadent and delicious!

The K Green Show — Google review

We came here to see how the dairy farm works. Wasn't really sure. But it is a fantastic story!! Very educational. Beautiful happy cows!! I wish I could have pet the babies so bad. They were so cute in their little pens off on the side. We had ice cream. Chocolate milk. Burger. Grilled cheese. Potato salad. Everything was great! I did wish that they had the bananas for the banana split but that was all that went south food wise. The ice cream and milk was Chaney's brand and so good and creamy ice cream!! They definitely take good care of their ladies! Happy cows make me happy!!

A Saturday evening adventure with our daughter and granddaughter. We made a dinner / ice cream and a show of it. I had the turkey sandwich it was good processed meat was thinking it would of been sliced turkey but it’s all good I’d eat it again. Service is great atmosphere is nice and there’s a lot of things to do for kids. The movie was free and it was a great experience for us. The ice cream was ok I has the chocolate chip mint ice cream. We would do it again even with the long drive.

Beautiful little vineyard. Great selection of wines and assorted gift items. the Golden Rose is an excellent sweeter wine. The staff was very helpful with our selections during a tasting. Great place to stop and grab a bottle of locally made wine. A must see for anyone visiting the area.

If you have a delivery with a 53' trailer my recommendation is to back up from the street, the guys working there will help you stopping the traffic, once you are in the lot you have to blind side manuever but it's easy and the guys gonna help you; fast unloading by one of the owners and a crew member... Awesome experience to me because they treated me like a one of their clients, giving me some drinks and they are amazing people. The vineyard it's a beautiful place, definitely i would like to back here

Luis Salas — Google review

We had a wonderful time visiting Beachaven. Very nice relaxed venue. It was a beautiful Saturday to listen to live music outside. My favorite wine was the Muscadine Red. Never had a wine slushy but the were very good also.

Dale Nettles — Google review

I definitely recommend coming out for a tasting!Plus check their Facebook page, sometimes they have live music and/or food trucks come out too! There is a really nice outdoor area with a little stage and plenty of picnic tables for seating. The grounds are well kept with lots of flowers decorating the outside of the building. The gift shop is fun to look at but the wine really is the show stopper here!My favorite was the golden rose! Hands down if I could only pick one wine for the rest of my life… it’s this masterpiece!

Madelyn Mazurek — Google review

We took a tour and enjoyed a wine tasting afterward. The wine is very good! They have great sparkling wine also! Large area outside to sit at picnic tables and enjoy the wine and the company. Pet friendly outdoors, too! I will definitely go back!!

My wife and visited Beachaven Vinyards and Winery this week and I give it 5 stars. The staff was very friendly, the wines were great, and I was able to tour the facility with one of the wine makers! This was for a class project and the entire staff was so helpful! Thank you so much for a great afternoon.

We loved this winery. Very pretty and a nice walk in between the vineyard. I definitely left tipsy after one flight. I enjoyed all the different wines I sampled. They do have live music and food trucks sometimes.

I absolutely LOVE this place. The property was beautiful as was the hostess who helped me when tasting the wine. Its delicious and she had great recommendations for the tastes I have. I bought some to bring home. Will be back.

Fun spot for a wine tasting. Our favorites are the reserve chardonnay, petite sirah, and the reserve cabernet sauvignon.

steve swederski — Google review

Terrible service. I walked in and was greeted, but that was it. I looked around the wines for a while and not once was asked if I required any service. Workers conversed like I wasn't there. Then I got to the counter and had to talk to the cashier for her to pay attention to me. I was looking at the lipstick display next to the counter and cashier rung me up without asking if I needed anything else. Won't be going back from a lack of customer service.

Wine flights..Great pourings ...excellent variety. A great way to spend a beautiful afternoon!

Nice winery around Clarksville. Went there on a Friday evening and they had a live band outside. It was a nice atmosphere and vineyard looked amazing. Got to try their dry red tasting, picked chambourcin, Cabernet Sauvignon, merlot, and barrelhead red. Wines were tasty and great pair for the outdoor music.

Miguel Chang — Google review

We love going here on Friday nights as a family. The kids always find other kids to play with, there’s always great live music, and we enjoy the wine they make as well. We even went the extra step of becoming members of their wine club.Edit 8/30/23: we received an email about picking grapes at the vineyard. We’ve never had grapes straight from the vine, so we went and picked a bag to enjoy. Fresh grapes taste 100x better than any store bought grapes!

Our first time visiting Dunbar Cave State park! The park is very clean, well maintained the swan lake is beautiful the nature is breathtaking area is peaceful this park has its own spirit very different from other parks that I've ever visited .. The cave is big and it's cold inside much different from outside temperature if you want a cave tour you have to buy a ticket and pay the fee other wise you can just walk around the area but you can't go inside the cave.. Great area for walking, hiking, running with your family friends and pets.. There are plenty seating areas all around if you wanna rest ... What I like about it is there's a short history written on Interpretive Signs. Overall we had a very nice time seeing this historical place. Highly recommend !! if you are visiting Clarksville make sure to stop by.

The tour itself was easy for most ages. It is dark, only being illuminated by flashlights, I was concerned about our kids being scared but they did very well and were excited. I am 5'10" and had to bend down a few times as to not bump my head and all adults had to crouch just once for a very short time. Definitely recommend to spend the money on the tour, it's a unique experience!!

Awesome place. You can walk hike this area or sit and have a picnic. No trash cans, so you take everything you things you bring in with you when you leave. You can tour the cave in May through September. The history of this place is extraordinary. So many things added changed, and all the people this place has experienced is phenomenal. Dogs, children, and all ages are welcome. Animals must be on a leash at all times!

We went off season in March so cave tour was not open yet. We did walk a a couple of trails, went to the entrance of the cave, and paused by the pond to watch the various water fowl. Our trails were the easier ones since I use a walker with wheels. Easy to navigate. Stopped in the park information center which houses a small museum and gift shop. Purchased a few souvenirs. Nice day and fresh air, made some great memories.

A beautiful area and a great place to clear your mind. The park isn't massive but what it lacks in size makes up for in beauty and interest! There are two different walking paths which both are great.I highly recommend visiting this state park along with others around Tennessee! Note: they do offer guided tours of the cave when you register online! The cave its self is an adventure. Have fun.

Beautiful site with some thought provoking history. Lovely trails to walk or hike. Book your tour in advance if you want to go in the cave, otherwise you can only enjoy the entrance area on your own.

The par-core kitty 🐈 trail is where the magic happens. The trees have gorgeous root structures which lend the gift of natural steps - one of my favorite things. I have never figured out where this trail ends. I need a trail map.I have waited two decades for the Clarksville to give this place the TLC it deserves. Night walk solar lanterns, painting, changing out the rusted gate/entry to cave and oh yeah....the cave. I do remember when it was shut down and issue with the bats and routine pond growths. I would like to see this area updated and loved on a little. Add a little romance.

Ranger was informative and the signs around the park were as well. The ranger explained the reason why the cave closes during the winter is to allow the bats to hibernate. Enjoyed watching the geese in the water.

I enjoyed the trails- saw lots of wildlife and their native grassland is awesome! so many pollinators!I will say their pond needs some TLC- its full of invasive species and algae and just looks a little sad.

I rate this 5 stars with some caveats:1. If you hate learning history you won't enjoy the cave tour. The tour is basically all about the history of the cave and while there are some cave formations they aren't the main focus2. Do not bring little kids on this tour they won't understand the history nor appreciate the cave3. If you have trouble walking this is not the cave tour for you. This cave does not have concrete walking paths like other popular caves so you are walking on slick uneven rocks the whole time.4. I HIGHLY recommend checking out a more well preserved cave like Cumberland Caverns before this one. This cave was heavily damaged before the state took control and it's a perfect example of why caves have the rules they have. One of my favorite parts of the tour was when they took you to the most damaged room on the tour first and then went to the best preserved room in the cave right after. It's a stark difference and shows just how damaging humans can be to caves and why it's important to protect them.5. Yes you can see the Native American pictographs and yes they are pretty cool. If you have poor low light vision though they may be hard to see so keep that in mindOverall I recommend this tour, it's very different from other cave tours and gives you a good perspective on why preserving caves is extremely important

Great place for an easy hike. Plenty of nature and some wildlife will be present. The cave entrance is permanently closed, but you can still enjoy the opening entrance and read about the history.

I took and put away my children’s phones for the day and decided to visit the park, they enjoyed it and never complained. It was quite, peaceful and had interesting sites and trails. Amazing blessed day with kind families all around. The visitor office and gift shop was clean and polite customer service.Only cons; people visiting with their dogs should pick up their waste and not leave it in the middle of the trail.

Really cool place to come explore and learn about the history of the area. Parks staff was great and knew their stuff. Make sure to bring a sweater along with you if you are going into the caves. You can only access the caves by taking a tour with the parks employees.

Absolutely beautiful loops/trails. Great for dogs and kids. Lots of wildlife, even have seen the river otters a few times!

This place is fascinating and very cool. We did the unknown realms tour a little pricey but its 2 hrs long and go deep in the cave. Our guide was very informative.Just know you have to climb up and down and will have to crouch a few times.

This is a nice walking park with several different trails. The cave area is cool. We went on the same tour twice, we liked the first one so much. They offer different tours on the weekend but we had to end our vacation on Friday. The first tour was great. The woman that led it gave a ton of interesting information and was very engaging. The second tour was a little disappointing. The guy that led it did not give as much information although he did give the basics, it wasn't as interesting. Would definitely go on one of the other tours if we visit again.

We had the best time zip lining with Tyler and Holly as our guides! They were great with our young son and, everyone in general-super sweet and super knowledgeable! I would recommend this for anyone visiting the area!!

My daughter wanted to zip line. My first time zip lining. We had lots of fun. Great guides!

It was my first time ever going zip lining. Me and my husband decided to go on the night adventure in Kingston Springs. Let me take a minute to brag on the amazing crew we had the pleasure of spending the time with. Tyler, Lexie and Joe were funny, great attitudes, fun, helpful and we truly enjoyed the time with them. We highly recommend going to adventure works and asking for these three. You won't regret it. We will be goin to their other locations asap.

Our kids had an awesome time ziplining as part of a birthday party! The ziplines were fast & fun! Brian was fantastic with the kids keeping things upbeat & fun! I felt confident that all safety procedures were followed and prioritized. The park is perfectly tucked back from the road giving you a true nature experience. We will definitely be back!

We brought our sons here last year in July. It was the most fun!! Our guides were great and helpful!! Want to go again!

We had a great time zipping thru the trees. IT is shady and lovely. The zip lines are pretty cool...not the highest or fastest I've ever been on, but for only $60 you get almost 2 hours of zipping. The guides were great and very helpful. It was completely safe.

Went full moon zip lining here and had a blast. Only ten zip lines, but the cool factor was that it’s at night, they do a tandem run, there are glow sticks involved, and the people running it are really laid back. We had a great time!!!

Great experience. Had a ton of fun, team development, group thinking, and decision-making with unique circ*mstances and challenges. Would recommend to any team! Bryan was awesome!

You can't go wrong with Adventureworks. The whole experience was incredible. Mike was an amazingly fun (and funny) guide. My whole family - 6'5" me, my scared-of-heights-wife, and my two kids (5 1/2 and almost 8) - were blown away by our adventure in the trees. You're sure to leave happy and with great memories!

We did the Moonlight Zip lining and it was so much fun, our instructors/guides (Mary & Colin) were great fun, very experienced, were very organized and kept things moving. They even had glow sticks for everyone so we could see each other in the dark... Was such a laugh, the whole experience.... My only recommendations would be to take a small flashlight, use the bathroom at the gas station in town before you get there (bathrooms have no power or running water) as super creepy in the dark!! And tip your guides at the end, they deserve it, and have a great time.
