BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA — S. Jennifer Paulson, a former Brevard journalist known as Sara Paulson, just released the audiobook of her debut novel, “Boomerang.”
This suspense-filled thriller is narrated by actor and activist Kira Omans (known in the audiobook world as Keira Grace), which brings a whole new dimension and depth to the story.
With the print and eBook versions already well-received with rave reviews on Amazon and Goodreads, “Boomerang” dives deep into the aftermath of grief, the shadows of our past and the unyielding pursuit of truth.
The novel takes place in a fictional town in Brevard County and is inspired in part by the #MeToo movement.
“I just thought about how life is never the same when something terrible happens to a loved one,” Paulson said.
“What if a grieving widow, who is reeling from the sudden, unexpected death of her husband, discovers a devastating, sinister secret about his past? What if she goes off the deep end and becomes obsessed with, ‘I want to know find out the truth. I want to know if what he did to someone else has affected that person the rest of their life?’”
“Boomerang” introduces readers to Taryn Metcalf, a 33-year-old journalist reeling from the sudden loss of her husband. Amidst her grief, Taryn discovers a letter that propels her into the heart of a decade-old mystery. Assuming a new identity, she embarks on a quest to find justice, weaving through a labyrinth of secrets that unexpectedly ties her to another woman’s fate.

As Taryn edges closer to the truth about her late husband’s misdeeds, she uncovers a dangerous web of deception. It challenges her understanding of justice and vengeance – and uncovering the truth just might cost Taryn everything.
“The themes and events that unfold in this story, I feel, touch so many women,” said Omans, who has narrated nearly 250 audiobooks.
“I was so gripped by it. The pacing of the whole story was very well done and just by the nature of being a thriller, but I think especially in the later chapters, I was working longer hours because I didn’t want to stop reading it.”
Crafted with the insight of a seasoned journalist and the imagination of a born storyteller, “Boomerang” explores the depths of human emotion, the complexities of moral dilemmas, and the haunting question of what drives seemingly good people to commit bad deeds.
With a narrative as compelling as it is provocative, Paulson invites readers on a gripping journey through the darkest corridors of the human heart.
Perfect for fans of “Gone Girl” and “The Girl on the Train,” “Boomerang” has captivated readers with its relentless twists and heart-stopping revelations. It currently boasts 4.7 stars on Amazon.
Several readers have been shockingly surprised by the thrilling novel, unable to put it down.
“What a phenomenal inaugural book,” wrote reviewer Lisa. “If you like thrilling, sensitive and intelligent topics within a well-thought-out story, you will want to read this book. Phenomenal. Deserves more than five stars.”
In addition to its Audible release, “Boomerang” is available for purchase on Amazon and other online retailers, including Barnes & Noble, Google Play, Apple Books and Kobo.
