Can-Am Off-Road is a huge player in the UTV market, and their Maverick X3 has been dominating UTV racing since 2017. Can-Am was the first manufacturer to turbocharge a UTV with the 2015 Maverick 1000R, and the 2023 Maverick R line continues the evolution of extreme-performance UTVs. The Maverick line up also includes 60-inch Sport and 50-inch Trail models. Here are all of Can-Am’s sport UTV offerings for 2024.
CAN-AM MAVERICK R/MAVERICK R X
New for 2024, Can-Am unleashes the next generation of turbocharged Mavericks with an all-new 999T triple producing 240 Hp mated to a seven-speed Dual-Clutch Transmission, plus Rs have High and Low ranges. Dual injectors per cylinder and a 54mm Turbo mounted directly to the engine block give the new Maverick more power per liter than most super cars. Shifting can be manual via paddle shifters, or the computer selects gears in Auto mode along with drive modes of Normal, Sport, or Sport+. Suspension is also next-level with massive lower arms and High Knuckles and arched upper arms. New four-link trailing arms still have three pairs of radius rods with one set adjusting toe and the top ones attaching to the high knuckles. Travel is 25 inches front and rear, and hubs are six lug. Front calipers are 32mm triple-puck, while rears are 30mm twin-piston, and rotors are 265mm. Wheels are 15-inch flow-formed aluminum bead-locks, and Rs come with ITP Tenacity XNR 30×10-15 on all four corners. The Smart-Lok front diff has a new electronic diff disconnect, so it freewheels when the driver slams on the brakes. The co*ckpit is also next-level with an all-new dash with more accessory-switch cut-outs, 10.25-inch screen navigation, and more storage; the new D-shaped steering wheel tilts and telescopes. New doors have outer releases plus the nylon strap inners.
Maverick Rs sport Fox Podium 2.5 QS3 shocks and Catalyst Grey and Neo Yellow colors, but a roof is not standard. Maverick R X also has Fox Podium 2.5 QS3 piggyback shocks but adds bottom-out control, a roof, four-point harnesses, a rear camera, and Legion Red/Triple Black paint.

Maverick R X RS models upgrade to Fox Podium RC2 shocks with dual-speed compression adjusters plus rebound adjustment, along with tunable preload and cross-over heights. Tires are ITP Tenacity XNR 32×10-16 on 16-inch aluminum bead-locks, and front and rear cameras project to the 10.25-inch infotainment screen. X-Package graphics are also standard; colors are Triple Black or Carbon Black/Neo Yellow. Maverick R X RS with Smart-Shox upgrades to Can-Am’s Gen 3.0 Smart-Shox with dual-valve compression and rebound electronically adjusted with Fox Podium 2.5 front and 3.0 rear shocks. R X RS models also get a rear-view mirror, and Smart-Shox has the same color choices.

Smart-Shox models add Can-Am’s fully self-adjustable, computer-controlled suspension that controls both compression and rebound damping. Smart-Shox technology makes real-time automatic suspension adjustments, improving vehicle stability and providing excellent control with flatter cornering. The X MR 64 has 20 inches of front and rear travel via Fox Podium 2.5 QS3 shocks. The X MR Turbo RR 72 model has 22 inches of front travel and rear travel and 16 inches of ground clearance using Fox Podium 2.5 QS3 front and rear shocks with tool-less compression damping adjustment. The 72-inch model also adds arched A-arms and lower radius rods for extra ground clearance, and beadlock wheels add tire security. X RC models come with a special accessory package designed for rock crawlers that includes quarter doors, Maxxis Liberty tires, UHMW rock sliders, suspension arm protection and front-diff guards, front bumper, front and rear tow hooks, and a 4,500-pound winch. The RC 64 gets 30×10-14 Maxxis Liberty tires on 14-inch aluminum wheels. CAN-AM MAVERICK SPORT MAX DPS
Can-Am’s Maverick Sport Max X DPS is a 100-horsepower, 60-inch wide machine with a 976cc, 8-valve V-twin engine supplies the power, and the DPS model lets you tune the power delivery with the Sport and Eco throttle-map switch on the dash. The Maverick Sport Max also features Can-Am’s Smart-Lok front differential. Smart-Lok has two toggles on the dash to select from four modes: 2×4, 4×4 fully locked, 4×4 Trail Active (mud) and 4×4 Trail.

CAN-AM MAVERICK TRAIL DPS
Can-Am’s Maverick Trail DPS is available with a 52-Hp 650cc single or 75-Hp 976cc V-Twin, and the 50-inch wide machine was developed for cross country racers and trail riders. Drivers can tune power delivery with Sport and Eco-mode ECU throttle maps, and Trails have EBS with Electronic Hill Descent Control and Can-Am’s Quick Response System CVT with Electronic Drive Belt Protection. The Maverick Trail DPS features Can-Am’s Visco-Lok QE front differential and tri-mode Dynamic Power Steering with three levels of assist. The Trail DPS sports 26-inch Carlisle ACT tires on 12-inch aluminum wheels and premium tail light. The Maverick Trail DPS has 10 inches of front travel and 10.5 inches of rear travel using twin-tube gas-charged shocks. Front and rear anti-sway bars fight body roll in turns, and a 90.6-inch wheelbase adds to agility.

The Can-Am Commander DPS/XT/XT-P are 62 (DPS & XT) or 64 inch wide (XT-P) sport utility UTVs powered by a 52 horsepower 650cc single (DPS & XT) or a 100 horsepower 976cc V-twin with with Sport and Eco power delivery modes. Variable rate power steering, double-A-arm front and rear suspension with front and rear sway bars and up to 15 inches of travel give the Commanders agile handling and the ability to handle rough trails at speed. These machines have fully automatic transmissions with engine braking, a cabin that’s easy to enter and exit, full doors, unlockable rear differentials, and a tilting bed that holds 600 pounds of cargo and has storage compartments in its sides. The DPS and XT models have 12.5 inches of front travel and 13 inches in the rear. The DPS comes with 27-inch tires, 14-inch steel wheels and a 4.5 inch instrument display.
