Jacob T. Meigs, a beloved husband, father, son, and friend, passed away on October 10, 2023, in Atlanta, Georgia. Born on February 18, 1970, in Columbus, Georgia, Jacob was a man of many talents and interests, who left an indelible mark on the hearts of those who knew him.

Jacob was a gifted athlete, known for his competitive spirit and dedication. His love for music was evident in his beautiful singing voice and his self-taught piano skills. He was a man of many passions, but his love for his family, farming, and his cows were the most prominent.

Jacob was a loving husband to his wife, Tracey Meigs, and a devoted father to his children, Joshua Meigs (Railey), Brooklynn Meigs, Brett Jones, and J. A. Meigs. He was a doting grandfather to Easton Meigs. He was the cherished son of Kenneth T. Meigs and Sharon McClanahan Meigs, and a caring brother to Jonathan Meigs (Laura), Darrin Meigs, and Adam Meigs. He was also a beloved son-in-law to Casey and Debbie Kelley and Rick and Donna Sims, a dear brother-in-law to Jessica Overby (Kenny) and Heath Abney, and a cherished uncle to a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, E. L. and Lorene McClanahan and Mr. and Mrs. H. T. Meigs.

Jacob was a man of many talents, but his greatest gift was his ability to love and care for others. He was a beacon of kindness and selflessness, always ready to lend a helping hand or a word of encouragement. He was a mentor to many, guiding them with his wisdom and experience. His love for cooking was well-known among his family and friends, who will miss his delicious meals and the joy he took in preparing them.

A Celebration of Life procession for Jacob will be held on Wednesday, October 18th, 2023. The procession will begin at 10:30 AM (CDT) at the Tallapoosa River Electric Co-Op main entrance and will travel on the following route. Starting at the Tallapoosa River main entrance and travel North to the intersection of Hwy 431 and Hwy 50. Turn right traveling East on Hwy 50 to the stop sign. Turn right traveling East down Hwy 50 to the intersection of County Road 84 and Country Club Road. Turn left on to Country Club Road proceeding to pass Jacob’s home to the intersection of Country Club Road and County Road 181 traveling South to the intersection of Hwy 50. Turn Right traveling West back towards the Tallapoosa River office. Friends are invited to park somewhere along the route to pay respects for Jacob.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial donations be made to a charity of your choice, St. Jude Children'sResearch Hospital, or to the Alabama Sherrif's Girls Ranch.

A visitation for Jacob will be held Wednesday evening at his family’s home from 5:00 until 7:00 PM (EDT).
