Anything below 30fps and gsync will disable and you willexperience what you wpuld do on any other monitor in terms of tearing and stutter.

Hey Guys, Sorry been busy and not been able to give a proper review on my experience of Gsync. Firstly, as many people have said gsync is only worth it if you are over 30 fps most of the time. This I guess depends on your hardware. So Gsync does not make the hardware factor redundant it just lowers the bar in terms of machine power needed for an amazing smooth experience. And when I say and amazing smooth experience, I will give you an example of Gsync and that should be enough as a review. System - i7 3930k 4.5ghz, GTX Titan Sli, some ram, an ssd, Obv the Gsync monitor. Add ons in this example - Orb x England, REX ultimate, FSX booster, PMDG 777, Heathrow xtreme (on xtreme settings), shade. The experience is like watching a seamless movie. From inside the co*ckpit, it will be absolutely SMOOTH like butter. It is incredible. Before It would choppy and jittery. Now it is smooth as butter as if you are watching a movie. FSX is something else. Conclusion - IF you have the hardware to stay above 30fps in the way you use the sim, GSYNC is a must!!!

Lol common dude, what else shall I do? Try running crysis 3 in the backgeound lol. I get your point tho. If you are using fsx with those settings......maybe in 5 years you will have a processor that can handle it?

I do not go below 30 and I use orb x, rex hd textures, xtreme airports, utx, gtx, pmdg airplanes, shade, and a whole bunch of other add ons. I have a i7 3930k at 4.5 ghz and 2 titans in sli. I cant try much harder.

I have tried this and for me it is nowhere near as smooth as 60fps.

Do you mean adaptive vsync? Whats half refresh rate vsync? I will give it a go. Do you just set your monitor at 30htz. How?

Well said. I am in a similar predicament. I am getting married next summer God willing. Despite my partner not having an issue with my setup, just finding the time to keep ontop of flight sim will be tough. It will go from being a passion to a hobby. I guess thats life!

Totally agree. I was just trying to make the point that 30fps in sync with refresh rate is completly different to the current locked at 30fps experience.

qasim_786 replied to qasim_786's topic in Video Hardware: Monitors | Multi-Monitors | Video Cards | Drivers etc

Exactly. I think its just a matter of letting the tech do the talking when it is released. Some people are totally missing the "dynamic" point of gsync. To me 30fps cannot be regarded as smooth as it is not in sync with tbe refresh rate. Surely you ses a diff when you play something at 60fps? The only way 30fps can be smooth is if your monitor is 30htz. I think a lot of this depends on peoples experience. When I was gaming on 30fps on ps3 I would think it was smooth. But when switching to 60fps on pc I could not go back to 30fps again. I still think you should try gsync. If you lock at 30fps your refresh rate will too and you will have such a better smoother experience.

But this is exactly why I am so excited by this. To now the hundreds, sometimes thousands has been spent on hardware to try and gain those fps markers and a smooth experience with good graphical quality. This solution which costs a 120 pounds means I will not have to upgrade for the next 5-6 years and still enjoy gaming/simming as it should be experienced. Win win for me.

qasim_786 replied to qasim_786's topic in Video Hardware: Monitors | Multi-Monitors | Video Cards | Drivers etc

Well im sure you guys use fsx more than me. Just fron my experience I do not dip below 30fps when using weather, pmdg 777, orb x, rex, utx, gtx and a bunch of other stuff. And if you look at the facts presented by nvidia and verified by people such as Carmack and sweeney, I dont see how you can dismiss this as a money making venture. Surely you can see the benefit of something that produces a seamless smooth silky motion for anything above 30 fps......no? Nope....I think the post by the pmdg support dude explained perfectly what this tech is capable of. Ill take your word on this. Im a moderate fsx simmer and although I use a whole load of taxing add ons I guess I just dont use it in the same scenarios as you guys when you get fps below 30.

qasim_786 replied to qasim_786's topic in Video Hardware: Monitors | Multi-Monitors | Video Cards | Drivers etc

Nothing, it will have no effect. Gsync will only be effective above 30fps. It will drop back to the old system. But tbh if you are getting 18fps, without sounding rude, its maybe time you did upgrade....theres only so much software and drivers can do. Lol that was a good buy! but keep in mind with the diy kit it will take out all your other display ports and sound
