Tim Burton’s Wednesday cast sees new actors tackle the iconic Addams Family characters from Wednesday's mom Morticia to her Uncle Fester, with plenty of familiar faces and newcomers playing the students at Nevermore Academy. The Netflix series follows Wednesday Addams as she enrolls in Nevermore Academy, a school for outcasts located in the town of Jericho. The students at Nevermore often find themselves in conflict with the local “normies” (humans without supernatural powers), which becomes exacerbated when a string of brutal murders terrorizes Jericho.

As the title suggests, Netflix’s series focuses on Wednesday, so her family members Gomez, Morticia, Pugsley, and Fester Addams aren’t prominent main characters. Alongside various award-winning and newcomer actors in Wednesday’s cast, the supernatural Addams Family adaptation also brings back the 1990s film series’ iconic Wednesday Addams actress Christina Ricci, who stars in a new role in the first season of the series.

Jenna Ortega As Wednesday Addams

Acting Professionally Since 2012

Actor: Though she is now best known for her horror roles, Jenna Ortega got her big break playing the younger version of the titular Jane in Jane The Virgin before becoming one of the main cast members in the Disney Channel sitcom Stuck in the Middle. Since then, she's appeared in the Netflix hit series You and really found her niche in horror with notable roles in The Baby Sitter: Killer Queen, Scream (2022), and X.

Ortega has also signed on for another reboot of a Tim Burton property in Beetlejuice 2, where she plays Lydia Deetz's (Winona Ryder) daughter. Ortega will be back for Wednesday season 2 and will be a producer this time around, promising more input on the series going forward.

Character: The title character is the gothic deadpan daughter of Morticia and Gomez Addams, who is sent to the outcast school of Nevermore Academy after attempting to murder students at her previous high school. As she navigates her new school, Wednesday learns to control her psychic powers and solves a decades-old murder mystery. Ortega also plays Goody Addams, Wednesday’s ancestor from the 17th century.

Catherine Zeta-Jones As Morticia Addams

Actor: Academy Award-winner Catherine Zeta-Jones got her start with smaller roles in the early 1990s, but her breakout role is likely that of Elena in The Mask of Zorro opposite Antonio Banderas. She is best recognized for her roles in Chicago, Traffic, Ocean’s Twelve, The Terminal, and Entrapment. While she's better known for appearing in big-budget movies, Zeta-Jones has turned her attention to streaming series lately. In addition to Wednesday, she also starred in the Disney+ series National Treasure: Book of Secrets as the show's villain.

Character: Morticia Addams is the gothic wife of Gomez Addams, and Pugsley and Wednesday's mom in the Wednesday cast. Also a psychic, Morticia attended Nevermore Academy 30 years ago, with Wednesday now stuck in her mother’s shadow. While she doesn't appear much in the first season of the series, the show is expected to feature more of the family dynamics in Wednesday season 2.

Luis Guzmán as Gomez Addams

Acting Professionally Since 1977

Actor: Guzmán got his start in small roles in movies that didn't even have names, like "Bystander" or "Goon #1." He worked his way up to become one of the most prolific actors in Hollywood. He is best known for his roles in Boogie Nights, Punch-Drunk Love, Traffic, Narcos, and Oz. He also took on a small role in Rian Johnson's Poker Face and appears in the Gareth Evans action-thriller Havoc.

Character:Luis Guzmán plays Gomez Addams, Wednesday’s father who was accused of murdering a Jericho normie 30 years ago. This means of all the Wednesday characters, he is the one whose past actions have made things the hardest on his daughter at her new school. He's a devoted husband and father, but the shadows of the past linger over him, though he maintains his innocence during the first season. Like Morticia, he doesn't appear in the first season a lot, but is expected to be in Wednesday season 2 as well.

Emma Myers As Enid Sinclair

Acting Professionally Since 2010

Actor:Before joining the Wednesday cast, Myers appeared in The Baker and the Beauty and Girl in the Basem*nt. Myers has also signed on for the main role in the young adult mystery movie, A Good Girl's Guide to Murder, based on the trilogy book series by Holly Jackson. It is likely that Myers will also return to the Wednesday cast for season 2, although for those who wanted to see a Wednesday and Enid love pairing due to their great chemistry, Jenna Ortega mentioned that romances likely won't happen.

Character: Enid is Wednesday’s bubbly and colorful roommate at Nevermore Academy. She’s a werewolf who is ostracized in her family for not being able to “wolf out.” While the two begin their cohabitation at odds, Enid and Wednesday form an unexpected friendship throughout the semester. After Ortega, Emma Myers plays easily the second most important Wednesday character and undergoes the biggest transformation in the series.

Percy Hynes White As Xavier Thorpe

Actor: Percy Hynes White has been working professionally since he was only two-years old, so he has a lengthier resume than most actors the same age. he also been seen in Edge of Winter, A Christmas Horror Story, Between, and The Gifted. His return for season 2 of Wednesday is unknown, but since Jenna Ortega said there should be no romance in the new season if he returns to the Wednesday cast, it will likely be as Wednesday's platonic friend.

Character: A mysterious student with the power to bring his drawings to life at Nevermore Academy, Xavier also takes a liking to Wednesday. He is an artist tortured by the legacy of his father Vincent Thorpe, a renowned psychic who has little time for his son. Xavier was Rowan’s roommate who previously dated Bianca, the most popular girl at Nevermore, and was one of the suspects in the murder case.

Hunter Doohan As Tyler Galpin

Acting Professionally Since 2012

Actor: Doohan got his start in short films before making the jump to TV and movies. His notable roles include Teenage Warren in Truth Be Told and Adam Desiato in Your Honor. Since his character didn't die and was only arrested and taken to a psychiatric hospital for treatment, there is always a chance he returns as a primary villain in Wednesday season 2, seeking revenge.

Character: Tyler is the normie son of Jericho’s Sheriff Galpin in the Wednesday cast. The teen character works at the local coffee shop, Weathervane Cafe, where he forms a close connection to Wednesday Addams. He was also the secondary antagonist and the serial killer that Wednesday was looking for, which ruined their romance. Of course, Jenna Ortega later said she didn't like the love triangle for the Wednesday characters, so that is probably not something that will happen in later seasons.

Gwendoline Christie As Principal Larissa Weems

Acting Professionally Since 2007

Actor: Much like Guzman, Christie got her start in unnamed roles and worked her way up the call sheet thanks to a lot of auditions. Christie is most notable for her Emmy-nominated performance as Brienne of Tarth in Game of Thrones. She has also been seen in Netflix’s The Sandman as Lucifer and in the Star Wars sequel movies as Captain Phasma. There is little chance of Christie returning, as her character sacrificed herself in the first season of Wednesday, but Ortega has said she would love to have her back.

Character: Gwendoline Christie plays Principal Larissa Weems at Nevermore Academy in the Wednesday cast. She is a woman who dislikes the Addams family after an event in their past. This Wednesday character was the roommate of Morticia Addams when the two were students at Nevermore, and she still holds a grudge against Wednesday's mom 30 years later.

Christina Ricci As Marilyn Thornhill

Acting Professionally Since 1990

Actor: Ricci got her start in the business as a young child and made a name for herself with '90s favorites. She has starred in projects like Now and Then, Casper, Tim Burton’s Sleepy Hollow, and The Matrix Resurrections. She was nominated for an Emmy for her work in the Showtime series Yellowjackets, playing the adult Misty Quigley. It is unclear what her fate was in season 1 of Wednesday, so there is always a chance Ricci will return to the Wednesday cast in the future.

Character: Marilyn Thornhill is the dorm mother at Ophelia Hall, Wednesday and Enid's residence. Miss Thornhill is the first and only normie member of Nevermore Academy’s staff, where she also teaches botany. This was a huge casting moment for Wednesday, as Christina Ricci is perhaps best known for her iconic portrayal of Wednesday Addams in the 1991 and 1993 Addams Family movies, with the actor now passing on the gothic role to Jenna Ortega. It was also fun when the original Wednesday character ended up as a villain in the Netflix series.

Jamie McShane As Sheriff Donovan Galpin

Acting Professionally Since 1997

Actor: At the start of his career, McShane booked a lot of television work with single-episode appearances in everything from Angel to The X-Files, and he's had an incredibly varied career ever since. McShane is notable for his roles in Bloodline, Gone Girl, Argo, Sons of Anarchy, and The Lincoln Lawyer.

Character: Jamie McShane plays Donovan Galpin, the normie sheriff in Jericho, who is also Tyler’s father. Sheriff Galpin is quickly at odds with Wednesday Addams, who has found herself in the middle of a supernatural murder investigation while spending an increasing amount of time with his son. As the sheriff, there is a good chance he will return as a Wednesday character if the second season returns to Nevermore Academy.

Isaac Ordonez As Pugsley Addams

Acting Professionally Since 2018

Actor: Ordonez has not been in a large number of projects as he is relatively new to the world of acting. He worked on the set of Disney's 2018 remake of A Wrinkle in Time as the double for Charles Wallace, which is what really gave him his professional foot in the door. Since then, he's mostly worked in short films before Wednesday, which could end up being his big break if he gets a larger role as the series moves forward.

Character: Pugsley Addams is Wednesday’s bullied younger brother. While he appeared in the first season as a Wednesday character, Isaac Ordonez was in a very small role, and had little to do with the story. Wednesday sees herself as his protector from bullies, though in past incarnations of the franchise, she has also loved to torment him.

Victor Dorobantu As Thing

Acting Professionally Since 2022

Actor:Wednesday is Victor Dorobantu’s first professional acting role, though fans might not recognize his face as it was his hand that was used, with the actor disappearing thanks to CGI blue screen technology. He is mostly known for being a magician and illusionist, which is likely why he is able to be so expressive with his hands. Thing will almost surely be back as a Wednesday character in season 2, as he is one of her most trusted companions.

Character: Thing is a living hand in the Addams family’s service who stays with Wednesday at Nevermore. He is the one Wednesday trusts the most during her investigations, and despite Thing not speaking in the traditional sense, Wednesday always seems to know what he's trying to tell her. Thing's injuries in the first season provide one of the most emotional sequences in the show as Wednesday is afraid she will lose him.

Fred Armisen As Uncle Fester Addams

Acting Professionally Since 1998

Actor: Armisen has been steadily working as a character actor for nearly 20 years with close to 200 acting credits to his name in the short time, both in live-action and in animation. He is best known for being a cast member on Saturday Night Live, as well as his roles on Big Mouth, Portlandia, Los Espookys, and Moonbase 8. In 2023, he voiced Cranky Kong in The Super Mario Bros. Movie and he played DJ Carl in Prime Video's Fallout adaptation.

Character:Fred Armisen plays Uncle Fester in the Wednesday cast, a role previously played by Christopher Lloyd. He is Wednesday’s criminal uncle who stops by Nevermore Academy while on the run. Armisen stole most of the scenes in which he appeared, and there have been rumors that he will get his own spinoff series, which could prove quite entertaining based on the small sample of him as a Wednesday character.

George Burcea As Lurch

Acting Professionally Since 2012

Actor: The actor has appeared in projects like Dampyr and Comrade Detective, but nearly all of his professional work so far has been for Romanian projects that might not have been seen by international audiences. He's also appeared in several short films between those longer projects. The actor will not be returning for season 2 of the show, though it's unclear if the role has been recast or if Lurch won't feature at all.

Character: George Burcea is Lurch, the Addams family’s tall and loyal butler. His only role in the Wednesday cast was driving her to the Nevermore Academy and then driving her back home at the end of the season. Previous iterations of the franchise have involved him in more of the family's storylines, so it remains to be seen if he'll have a larger role in the series.

Riki Lindhome As Dr. Valerie Kinbott

Acting Professionally Since 2001

Actor: In addition to being in the comedy folk duo Garfunkel and Oates, Lindhome is a prolific character actor. She has appeared in Knives Out, Much Ado About Nothing, and Another Period. She also takes on several voice roles, with voices in three animated series in 2023— Monster High, Animaniacs, and The Muppets Mayhem.

Character: Riki Lindhome is Dr. Valerie Kinbott, Jericho’s local psychiatrist who takes on Wednesday Addams as a patient. Her goal is to get Wednesday to open up emotionally and have a stronger relationship with her mother, but Wednesday is resistant to her techniques in their therapy sessions. The psychiatrist is targeted by the serial killer in season 1 though, so she doesn't get to see the fruits of her labor pay off. Since Valerie died in season 1, she isn't likely to return as a Wednesday character in the future.

Joy Sunday As Bianca Barclay

Acting Professionally Since 2015

Actor: Like a lot of younger actors who are just getting their professional start, many of Sunday's early roles have been in short films. Most of her recent work has been in television and streaming series, though she does have a few movies under her belt. Sunday is known for appearing in Bad Hair, Dear White People, and the 2022 Channing Tatum movie, Dog. Bianca survived Wednesday season 1, so there is a chance Sunday could return as a classmate in the future.

Character: Joy Sunday plays Bianca Barclay in the Wednesday cast. She is the “queen bee” of Nevermore Academy, a popular siren who was recently broken up with by Xavier. While antagonistic with Wednesday throughout the first season, the two worked together at the end and seemed to finally put their distaste for each other in the past.

Moosa Mostafa As Eugene

Acting Professionally Since 2018

Actor: Moosa Mostafa is relatively new to the world of professional acting with only two other roles in his career so far. Mostafa’s other acting credits include Nativity Rocks! andThe Last Bus. There is no word on whether Mostafa will return to the cast of Wednesday season 2, but it's likely most of Wednesday's previous Nevermore classmates will be returning.

Character: Moosa Mostafa is Eugene, Wednesday’s friend who leads the school’s beekeeping club. As one of the youngest students, he did a lot of growing up in the first season, and was able to stand and help fight at the end. In the end, it was Eugene who saved Wednesday from Marilyn Thornhill by controlling a swarm of bees. Eugene reminds Wednesday of her younger brother, which is why she feels something of a kinship with him.

Georgie Farmer As Ajax

Acting Professionally Since 2011

Actor: Farmer got his start in acting on the stage before making the jump to the screen. He doesn't have a lot of larger roles in his career just yet, but does appear to be a star on the rise. Farmer also appeared in Evermoor as Jake and Treadstone as Gabriel Becker. He is expected to return to the cast of Wednesday along with Emma Myers as Enid in season 2.

Character: Georgie Farmer plays Ajax, a gorgon member of the Nightshades whom Enid has a crush on. He doesn't have a lot of lines in the first season of the show, but he is present in a lot of the big Nevermore scenes. While always a shy and awkward student, it is Ajax who is there to help comfort Enid after she turns into a werewolf for the first time.

Tommie Earl Jenkins As Mayor Walker

Acting Professionally Since 1995

Actor: Fans might not have recognized his face in Wednesday, but Tommie Earl Jenkins has a lot of voiceover roles in his resume, particularly in video games. So, fans might have recognized his voice instead. He has done voice work for the Fallout, Star Wars, and Diablo game lines as well as Gotham Knights. He also has a role in Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part Two in 2024.

Character: Tommie Earl Jenkins is Mayor Noble Walker in the Wednesday cast. He was also the sheriff when Morticia and Gomez were Nevermore students, at the time when Gomez was believed to have killed someone. He was always an ally to the "outcasts" and would lie to protect them and the town from outsiders. Marilyn killed him in the first season, so he likely won't return as a Wednesday character in future seasons.

Iman Marson As Lucas Walker

Acting Professionally Since 2021

Actor: Iman Marson is only just getting started in the world of acting. Before Netflix’s Wednesday, Marson appeared in the short film Split Sole and appeared in the 2023 series Black Cake. He's also got a role in the upcoming Silent Witness, but those are his few professional credits so far.

Character: Iman Marson is Lucas Walker, the mayor’s son who finds himself at odds with Wednesday. He lives near Nevermore, and he works at Pilgrim's World. However, he is able to get on the same page with Wednesday and finds her the evidence she needs to find out who the killer is. With his father dead, and him a normie, there is likely little chance he will return to the Wednesday cast in the future unless the series decides to set more of the action in town than in the school.

Calum Ross As Rowan

Acting Professionally Since 2022

Actor:Ross’s first featured acting role is on Netflix's Wednesday series as one of the Nevermore students. He also appears in the small horror, thriller Kill as Vince. The talent he displays in Wednesday makes it clear other productions would be wise to give him a chance at a larger role.

Character: Calum Ross is Rowan, a telekinetic student at Nevermore who is even more of an outcast than Wednesday is. He has the power of telekinesis and used to be a member of the Nightshade Society. He felt that he had to kill Wednesday because it was his destiny, but after two failed attempts on her life, the Hyde showed up and killed him instead. Thanks to his character's death, his time in the Wednesday cast has now ended and he can pursue other roles.

William Houston As Joseph Crackstone

Acting Professionally Since 1994

Actor: Houston got his start in the early 1990s with small roles on television, and like Tommie Earl Jenkins has leant his voice to a number of video games like the Dark Souls and Horizon lines. Other than the Wednesday cast, Houston is known for his roles in Sherlock Holmes, The Last Duel, The Salisbury Poisonings, and Dracula Untold. He also appeared in the shortlived series inspired by the life of William Shakespeare, Will.

Character: William Houston plays Joseph Crackstone, the big bad in the Wednesday cast. He was the founder of Jericho who sought to eradicate outcasts and was primarily in the series via flashback scenes. He was whom Marilyn was trying to summon to return and finish the job. Crackstone's time in Wednesday ended with her stabbing him through his black heart, causing him to implode and die for good.

Season 2 Additions To The Wednesday Cast

The second season of Wednesday will see many new cast members join the series, and for the most part, details about the roles they will be playing have not been released. Steve Buscemi, Thandiwe Newton, Billie Piper, Haley Joel Osment, Heather Matarazzo, Joonas Suotama, Frances O'Connor, and Evie Templeton have all been cast in the new season. It's likely that many of these actors will play staff members at Nevermore Academy since much of the actual classroom activities weren't highlighted in the first season of the show.

One of the most exciting additions to the case in season 2, however, is likely going to be Christopher Lloyd for fans of the Addams family as a franchise. He played Uncle Fester in the 1990s movies, but there is no word on who he will play in the upcoming Wednesday season.
