One of the most interesting additions to World of Warcraft: Dragonflight is the Zskera Vaults. An ever-changing system found within the Forbidden Reach, it offers a good opportunity to empower your characters alongside acquiring unique collectibles. Delving into the Vaults can go hand in hand with your other open world activities and won't require any significant weekly grind to complete.

The Zskera Vaults may seem complicated at first, but this guide will explain the best ways to progress through the rooms, as well as Key farming tips and how you can unlock access to them.
How To Unlock The Zskera Vaults
The quest chain to unlock the Zskera Vaults is pretty short, and is located in the Patch 10.07 Zone; The Forbidden Reach. Start the quest line with Hidden Legacies in Valdrakken and fly to Morqut Village.
Here, you will be tasked with aiding the Obsidian Warders in their journey to learn about their heritage.
The next quest line starts with Helping Hand and Claw, where you must locate Explorer Jeb and Tacha at the Sharpscale Coast.
Once you have rescued Jeb and Tacha, they will ask you to meet them at the Zskera Vaults.
Standing next to a large door, they will explain the system behind the Vaults, and provide you with some initial Zskera Vault Keys to get you underway.
They also give a few initial quests to help ease you into the system, which reward you with more Vault Keys.
These keys are crucial to progressing through the Vaults, and you should be aiming to gather 30 keys each week, so you can unlock every door.
The Zskera Vaults consist of a large room with many locked doors. The room alters on a weekly schedule and will contain different doors and themes depending on the current vault name. Behind each door lies a randomised room, that can conceal many secrets, including:
- Loot Chests
- Primordial Stones
- Puzzles
- Collectibles
- Buffs/ Activatable Items
- Quests
Many of the vault rooms synergise with each other, with most of the puzzles requiring access to another room in order to complete.
Feel free to take your time exploring, as there is no time limit, and you are free to come and go as you wish.
Best Way To Explore the Zskera Vaults
Due to the nature of the Zskera Vaults, they are best explored in one session. Constantly dipping in and out will slow your progression, as you might have to backtrack to pick up certain items.
Instead, save up your weekly amount of keys before heading in so that you can unlock and complete everything in one sitting. This is a useful strategy because of how the puzzles work, as they normally require you to travel between different rooms to complete certain objectives.
Whenever you leave the Zskera Vaults you will lose all the buffs you gained during your exploration.
The Vaults are split between four separate floors, and unless you are playing a highly mobile class such as Demon Hunter, you may struggle to navigate around between the platforms.
You require a speed increase to manually jump between doors, and this is where the extra activatable items come into play. Some of the most useful include:
- Crate of Unfinished Scrolls, that will teleport you to a random location within the vault.
- Flask of Windward Steps, an active that pushes you forward a small distance, letting you hop over small gaps.
- Positional Displacer, an active that allows you to summon a portal to a specified location, which can be great for climbing vertically.
While the vault rooms will change each week and are randomised for each layer, there are some common ones that tend to show up on repeated visits.

Overgrown Skeleton | Use an Empty Obsidian Vial on a cauldron of Restorative Water and then throw the vial onto the skeleton. |
Hardened Chests | Use an Empty Obsidian Vial on a Stone Dissolver cauldron, and then click the stone mounds. |
Other chests may require you to interact with certain items in the room, or acquire specific items from the outside world. Treasures such as the Recipe Rat require a bit of time to finish.
If you can't figure out how to unlock a certain chest, try backtracking through already unlocked rooms to see if you missed an item.
Zskera Vaults Rewards
There are a bunch of notable rewards you can loot from the vaults, and alongside the regular Prismatic Fragments and gems for your Onyx Annulet, there are a few permanent collectibles you may want to keep an eye out for.
